2009-11-25 . chapter 51
I have spent the last several days reading this story from first to last word and am completely stunned by it's complexity, characterizations and the practically seamless blending of two of my favourite fantasy series.

I must admit that I stopped and literally wept at Robert's death but I also understand it's necessity in the plot of the story. I once spoke to Anne McCaffrey about how she dealt with having to kill Moreta and to Katherine Kurtz in regards to her having to kill Rhys and King Javan. Both explained to me as much as it hurt to do so, the story demanded it and any author worth their salt will do as the story demands. Otherwise, whatever is written afterwards reads false and you'll end up losing a large portion of your readership because it is no longer a good story. I'm glad that you did the same as these two author's whom I highly respect. I think that if you had suddenly pulled a deus ex machina to save Robert, I would have have stopped reading right there. Luckily, I didn't have to.

I did find myself distracted by some grammatical errors (mostly in tenses or singular/plural choices) and a few spelling "errors". I am not quite sure whether your purposefully spelled "paid" as "payed" on purpose or not. If "payed" is the correct spelling in Robert's world I have no issues with it, but if not, then I did find it somewhat problematical.

I especially liked the idea of Crookshanks living in the Tower of London and fathering a sturdy line of intelligent and special cats. The ending mentioning Crookshanks, the direct descendent of Crookshanks the First through 10 generations of the purely male line tickled me no end.

One of my hobbies is bookbinding and I have taken the liberty of copying the text of your book to good quality paper with the intent to create an appropriately "Victorian" binding so that I am not restricted to having Internet access when I want to re-read it.

You have also sent me to Amazon and Barnes & Noble in search of the additional Lord Darcy books I don't yet own. Thank you for your bibliography.

I'm now going to spend this Thanksgiving weekend reading your other fiction and I'm certain that I will enjoy myself as much as I did reading this.

I really like this story, and the alternate universe that you created.

I have to say, I am familiar with the Panda Joke, and you got the last line wrong. Instead of 'Eats shoots and leaves.' it should have said 'Eats, shoots and leaves.'.

Anyway, I'll get back to the story.

I really enjoyed this story it a year ago when I first read it and thought i would come back and read it again.
I thought this was a crossover from somthing I did wonder where you had got some of your idea's from. I wonderd if the story was based on "Hornblower" but im asuming I was wrong. It does make me want to go and watch Master and Commander thought.
Where did you get your ideas for it from?

Very nice, one of the best I've come across recently. Your alternate universe is very well thought out and detailed, and the story is very engaging. Congrats on writing an excellent story.

Amazing story here. I can't believe I came across a Lord Darcy story after reading the books so many years ago. I read it straight through, stayed up until 3 am last night and then finished today.

You deserve many more reviews, but it's a specialized universe you've got here. Anyway, well written and researched. I loved the chance to read about the feudal world that could have been. This looks like a tremendous writing effort. Well done!

Nice story, elaborately imagined, and quite well-researched. The whole Ginny plotline seemed rather forced, and not very relevant though.
Where did the poem (or sun paean, I imagine) come from? It is beautiful.

Amazing, what a wonderful story. The character development was incredible, and the plot flowed wonderfully well. A good bit of history thrown into the mix. . Was kinda bummed by the death of Robert. (was hoping you might have kept him).
Thank you for your time and effort.

I cannot believe that more people haven't read this fic, or at least reviewed it. In truth I wasn't going to review either until I saw the pitiful number who had. I've just finished reading this in it's entirety, and it is by far one of the best fics I haave ever read. Thank you.

Amazing work, absolutely incredible =)

I first learned of your story through a half-hearted glance at another author's profile while in the pursuit of another fic. They'd quoted a passage from your fic and I thought it was interesting, but quickly became distracted and forgot about it.

It was two nights ago, now, that I found your fic listed under a different author's favorite stories list. I was intrigued, so I had to check it out. That checking out lasted well into the morning when I should've been spending my time learning about the British Industrial Revolution than the subtlties of its feudal political system. I'll let you guess which one I enjoyed reading more about. Silly finals.

You've shown an amazing talent with this work, and an even more astounding dedication to the research behind it - this is the only fic I know of to include a complete bibliography =)

Again, very impressive work. I look forward to reading your other creations, but for now I need to bury my head in the more mundane aspects of British history. My enthusiasm, can you feel it? =P

Cheers!
