Very interesting idea, and I'd like to find out what happens in this story.
There is one thing I'm going to be a bit nitpicky about, and that is the interns' notes. I know this story is fiction, but simply injecting eggs with sperm from an animal isnt going to do anything at all, maybe you could mention some genetic manipulation of the gametes and then it would seem a little more probable. Sorry about that, it just bugged me a little (biological sciences student, lol).
Anyway this is a good story, definitely an unusual idea. I like the characterisation of the main doctor, very cold and clinical, and I can't help but feel sorry for the woman. Good work, I can't wait to read more.
