Splendid. This is a gorgeously concise character study; Matt gets all too much brush-off as the "who izzat Mulder clone & who're they kidding," but ultimately Bluestone had a more generous heart and outgoing nature than his live action doppleganger. You've shown precisely the trait--instinct--that allowed him to adapt to "revelations" in his life without throwing self-righteous hissy fits & rejecting change.

I like how you've braced your drabble around Matt's maturation from hero-worshipper to disillusioned pragmatist (or opportunist, depending on how your view the episode), juxtaposing his heightened experience with the lapse of faith in the one whose teaching he most valued. The quote at the end has the feel of a veteran bemused, rather than betrayed, at the loss of a certainty that had felt so solid when he knew so much less about his particular battles.

Forgive the repetition, but...splendid.

Matt never gets enough love. This is an excellent short piece with him, though, and I'm glad I found it. I know it's over a year old now, but it's still obviously worth a read!

Ya know, I love this fic. Short, true, but Matt's always been one of my fave characters. And I like that you flesh out his personality a bit here, show that he isn't just about paranioa, but also about trust and respect.

Hey, cool fic! Me and my father are watching Gargoyles for nastalgic purposes, I haven't seen it since I was ten.
ANyway, me and him, after watching that ep, got to thiunking. He turns to me and goes, hey, why don't you write one of those fanfics abotu this! They never followed through with it, right?
And I thinking hte same thing. Unfortunatly I dont' have a way to update so I'd jsut be writting it it for no onebut myself.
ANyway, I was htinking, after I read this.
Does it sound like a good idea to you? I mean, I knwo this may soudn wierd, btu think of it as one of those challenge things.
It'd be Matt's POV and he'd be entering the Illuminate society with only a select few Gargoyles (after what Elysa told him he ain't about to go in alone,but he can't have her know jsut yet) excluding Goliath (he's to close to her) knowing to back him up if it get/'s sticky.
You are the first person I found that has even thought of this as a possible idea in anyway, s'why I mentioned it.
So anyway, good fic. You did really we;ll on it and I was qwuite impressed.
