Odd as this may sound, I stumbled upon this story while reading your other puff/ruff stories,a nd when I got to the part with Steve Irwin in it, I just had to pause and reflect on it for a few moments. His inclusion in this story, even though this was written years before his death really helped drive the morale of this story home, and I just wanted to thank you for that.

Why did I have the mayor so intelligent?

Probably because I was fed up with the stories that, in my humble not employed as a writer for the show opinion,
overdid the 'mayor is a blithering idiot' gag. It got to be so cliche and predictable it was not funny, but a boring and predictable out for a stuck writer.

Good story. Good message, too. Greg is right... how DID the Mayor suddenly get so intelligent? O_o

To Patchwork Cat: It's funny how you can speak out against animal abuse but said nothing when I was getting attacked by Spitfire. In fact, you joined in too... hypocrisy, anyone?

To Susie: I'm sorry that your parents won't let you have a puppy. I realize that not everyone can afford to adopt the pet. ^^;; If they think they have the time and can afford to do so, they certainly can adopt any pet, even a goldfish. ;)

I like this story. Very good, even though some parts are pretty sad. Poor Mr. Peepers. :( Animal abuse is a terrible, terrible thing and we do need to stand up and put a stop to it. Adopt a pet, everyone!

I agree with Hairy - Mayor is unusually smart in this story. Maybe he's finally found a pill to increase his intelligience! :D

That was a brilliant story, DynamoDave - the message about standing up to animal abuse and animal testing was delivered perfectly. And while it may not have exactly been the happiest of endings for the ruffs and puffs (especially Bubbles of course), at least some good came out of it all. :D
One point I'd like to make though, before I go; in this story, it seems to me as though you've made the Mayor a lot more intelligent than he is usually depicted (he's normally shown to be a nice, slightly bumbling old fool, with Miss Bellum being the REAL brains behind the operation of Townsville). :D

I liked that. It was cute. You should do more. :o)
