You did a great job with the descriptions and the tone (and the present tense, which is difficult). If you get a chance, you might want to watch some of the Bogart movies where he plays Philip Marlowe. The best Bogart is always with his wife, Lauren Bacall. Whether you watch Philip Marlowe movies (or read the books) or not, you'll enjoy the homage/parody by comedian Steve Martin, called Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.

Well. I must say that I am very sad to see this end! One of the funniest fics I have ever read. I love Snape as a Bogart/Indiana cross. And Harry was just wonderful. Yay! *clapping wildly* That was a great finale, and your canon-prophecy detail thingie was quite nice. I myself also imagined it as paper, or maybe cloth for some reason, so that was a cool touch.

This weekend I finally to around to watching Casablanca for the first time, which was pretty fun...and then when I sat down and read this, I was envisioning everything in black and white. :D
