Personally, I prefer fics that focus on canon characters, OC tend to make my teeth hurt, but this isn't too bad.

I would actually think this is more of a Original story than something Naruto. It's pretty well-written, I admit, but it doesn't really have *anything* to do with the characters on the show we see and love.

Nice idea. And for the most part it reads well, though i felt a little rushed, but i bet that will get fixed when you revise it. Waiting for chapter 3 and beyond :)

In response to your AN, I would guess that the main reason nobody has left a review is due to the lack of main characters from the anime. I believe that it is well written and all, and as such will probably keep reading it, but I must admit that my favorite character being Naruto, it is hard to keep reading a story where he hasn't even showed up yet.

Then again, it's hard to find a good naruto story on FF.net that doesn't have Yaoi, as I firmly believe that 12 year olds, or even fics that are set up later have no basis for making the main characters get into such relationships.

In anycase, my guess is that people are taking a look at the first chapter and not finding anything familiar.
