| Draquia 2008-03-02 ch 25, | abuseWow. So seeing as I didn't review each chapter as I read it, I'll leave you a proper review now. Be prepared - it's a long one. I think your characterisation of Rikku was excellent, as was Lreav and Elhandra. Elhandra in particular was a very well-rounded character, though I was excpecting a little more closure about her. I was under the impression that Lhan's overt disdain of Rikku had a lot to do with jealousy, not just over Gippal, but over everything she was famous for. I thought she was making up for an inferiority complex, and underneath it was masking a profound respect, though nothing like that ever came out. I liked the complicated subplot about Gippal and Lreav - and how Gippal came to lose his eye - it was quite good backstory. That said, it was rather unsatisfying to see the ending of the story right back with Spira hating the Al Bhed. It was sort of a sour ending actually. Rikku and Gippal no longer have any way to prove that Gippal didn't set up the bombs. I felt awful for Kilika - Did Donna and Barthello survive? It would suck big time if they had died. Maybe they should all go to the farplane, yank back Lreav's bastard little soul and try him before the crowds as an unsent. Gippal himself was the character who I understood the least though. He was absent for quite a good portion of the story, and whilst I like the way he teased Rikku - very canon - I didn't really understand how he felt about her, or why. Does he respect her? Is he frustrasted by her or does he like her being argumentative? Is that why he provokes her? The way I read the relationship between these two during the game, I figured they'd probably had feelings for each other going back to their days at Home, though they didn't realise it properly then. It was actually written more obviousy in this fic than I thought it would be, and to be honest I stopped getting excited over it after their first kiss. I didn't really see how there was enough development between them to warrant a confession of 'love' (on Rikku's part) so early. Still, I'll need to read the sequel too to see how that's going. I shall review some more then. Overall, I thought this was a great story, and it's staying on my favourites list. |
| TheEndlessSnow 2008-03-01 ch 25, | abuseLovely lovely story, I'm sad to see its over |
| TheEndlessSnow 2008-02-29 ch 11, | abuseSo very sad. and yes i have realized that i seemed incapable of writing gippals name right before |
| TheEndlessSnow 2008-02-29 ch 10, | abuseNO! They can't arrest Gippel! He and Rikku will have to flee togethor to a remote potatoe farm, only making there way into the village every few weeks to sell there wares and they'll have to change their names to Bob and Ida! ahem...sorry I got a little carried away there. I really don't want them to arrest Gippel |
| TheEndlessSnow 2008-02-29 ch 9, | abuseGod I am loving this story. I never want it to end...but I do, cause I need to know whats gonna happen. I love Gippal, he is like pure sex(sorry its the rapid fangirl in me getting out again, I'll try to contain her) and now I must continue reading. |
| Draquia 2008-02-29 ch 1, | abuseI've had this story on my favourites list for a long time now. It was there mostly as a bookmark - a story I wanted to get back to and read through, just didn't get around to. I am now. And I like your prologue, you capture Rikku's personality very well. Fun, talkative, emotional, out there and occasionally second-guessing of herself. Looking forward to the rest of the chapters! |
