I just want to make it clear that I didn't think this was a BAD story. I think your writing shows promise, it just needs a lot of tweaking.

I'm just going to comment on your description of Kel. Kel isn't kind or gentle. She's just and fair, but hardly gentle. I guess you could argue kind, but it's hardly the first word that leaps to mind. Or the tenth, really. Also, Kel's deeds weren't exactly great or powerful. Yes, she brought down Blayce, but she did that because the Chamber showed her how and really anyone with leadership capabilities could have managed it just as well. Also, while I'll agree Kel has an inner light, she's definitely not charming. She is certainly dedicated to her work and definitely a friendly person, but not charming.

I also find it highly unlikely Kel would go into the Chamber third time if she didn't believe Tortall's safety was at sake. Tortallans don't go to weekly worship that we've seen in the books. The Tortallan religion - or rather, religions - are based on ancient religions and modern Wiccan/Pagan belief systems which don't require weekly worship. The only Christian similarities we've seen at ALL were in Woman Who Rides Like a Man with Yazhed the God of Stones - and the portrayal there was very unsympathetic. It is unlikely that Tortallans would attend a mass-like service at all given the author's attitude toward Christians.

I hope you didn't take this as a flame! I would really like to see you improve, and I hope you take this in mind next time you write. We don't have nearly enough decent Kel fics!
