Paula 6/26/05 . chapter 5 Very Very well done, you made me cry. It's been a long time since I've read fanfiction good enough to move me that much.
I look foreward to reading part 2 of this fic. |
melissa 3/2/04 . chapter 1 This is such an interesting story! I loved the movie, and though I knew that it was probably best for Maximus to die, I still wasn't very satisfied with that ending. All I have to say is that I was immensely pleased when I saw this story, and even more so when I read the first part, and I have no doubt in my mind that the rest of it is just as good if not better. |
Anna 8/18/03 . chapter 5 I am amazed. You captured me for a whole night. I just could swich my computer off. There are lots of good stories about but yours tops them all. Thanks very much! |
anna maxima 10/7/01 . chapter 6 Wow! What a superb story, and so true to the spirit of the movie. |
Marxbros 9/18/01 . chapter 6Wow, DNA, this is a great story. I started reading book 2 first without knowing this one existed, but after reading this one I realize how much more complex "Master of Horse" is. I love how you create two interesting, independent, clever, and intelligent women who are realistically portrayed. They are wise but also very human. I am also glad to see that you don't have Nemhyn fabulously beautiful and have Maximus fall immediately in love with her, like what happens in many glad fanfics. I would like to see the two of them become closer, even as friends, but your portrayal of Maximus as grieving and bitter seems right on the money. K, i'll stop babbling now, but please continue this story! |
DNA 5/31/01 . chapter 1 alright...i'm still here and alive somehow, and no...i'm not writing this just to up the review numbers to 29 (come on 30...hahaha...just kidding)...yes, part 2 is in progress, but i'm really, really busy...summer term is starting, and i have a new job soon, and i'm trying to do this story in the spare time...and i'm in the process of moving right now...goal...to get the first section of part 2 up and going and keep the acadmics and employment managed as well...there is a little sort of epilogue, if you will, with lucilla...so i'll try to get that up this week or next...hope it suffices for now;) |
Nancy 5/29/01 . chapter 6 This is a very well written and researched story. I can't wait to read what happens to Maximus and the women when they reach Londinium. I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to Part II, (which has been long overdue).
Actually, this is the second time that I have read this story. I just checked back with it to see if it has been updated, started reading, and got hooked all over again. The part where Maximus burns the reaimain of his wife and son made me cry for the second time.
Thank you for this engrossing tale and hope you continue it very soon! |
Shakes 4/24/01 . chapter 6 Great story, loved to read it! Please continue as fast as possible! |
Vanessa 4/11/01 . chapter 6 Britain! Sarmatians! Blood and gore! Okay, I'll stop gushing. Just trying to show appreciation for a good story. |
Robin4 3/31/01 . chapter 6Most interesting... I am saddened, yet interested completely. His sorrow is lessening, and yet... I am sure that as the author, you know what I mean.
I find Maximus' approach to duty interesting... You portray him as rather lost and bitter - two things I am sure he could very well be, but not one I've ever quite seem done before, or at least not in this way. I had always seen him as excepting the dream of Rome once more before he died, and had assumed that it would live on in his heart, but nonetheless, this is a very good story.
I desperately await more, but I'm still voting for Lucilla. |
Vanessa 3/22/01 . chapter 5 Aww...So Maximus does have a sense of humor after all. I'm glad he's lightened up after he glowered through the entire movie plus the chapters up to now. Of course I can't wait for more.
I would like to echo one of the previous reviewers in asking about Lucilla. What is her fate? Having her meet Maximus again would be quite unrealistic-however, news of Rome should still reach the provinces. And, DNA, I don't care if your story overlaps with parts of Island of Ghosts (I doubt it will.) Anything with even the tiniest mention of the Sarmatian calvary will be sure to capture my fascination. (I love Gillian Bradshaw.:)) |
Travington 3/20/01 . chapter 5 I can't wait to read the next parts. This was really nice. |
Sidelabel 3/19/01 . chapter 5Man, the only thing that sucks about this story is that it sin't finished yet. I can't wait for the upcoming parts. Love the story. |
Robin 3/18/01 . chapter 5 Need I say more? Wonderful, as always. But what about Lucilla? |
Sidelabel 3/14/01 . chapter 3COOOLLLL! Really good and a very good plot.. |
