| Taerontay 2007-12-13 ch 10, anon. | abuseHate to tell you this, but "aibou" has more of a connotation of togetherness in a platonic sense or of sharing things than of love. The "Ai" kanji in Aibou is not the same as the "ai" that translates to love. Don't believe me? Look it up on the wjdic(Google it; I recommend the monash server - it's the original one). Judging by your pen-name, you must watch Gundam Wing, therefore you must also know that Duo calls his Gundam aibou also without any sense of love (affection at most). Another example of this is DNAngel where Dark occasionally calls Daisuke 'aibou' in the context of 'accomplice'. Normally I wouldn't bother to correct someone on this since it's such a common misconception, but since Sam's realization of what's going on between Yugi and Yami hinges on this mistranslation I thought I'd mention it. [Actually it would be much funnier if Sam was thinking the wrong thing and there really ~wasn't~ anything going on.] Anyway, now that I'm done nitpicking your Japanese, I must congratulate you. I didn't think it was possible to combine Yugioh and Stargate in a semi-believable way. Although I thought it was awfully convenient when SG1 ran into a group of Jaffa and an imprisoned Tok'ra on Yugi's first trip off-world, which also happened to be with SG1 [something I also find unbelievable, they're the flagship team, in other words the ones most likely to walk right into danger -- most likely SGC policy would be to send new recruits, especially scientists, out with a large group of people to a relatively safe research area for their first trip], and more importantly, why were those Jaffa there anyway? Did I somehow miss the explanation of that? Also I don't find it very believable that the US government wouldn't even ~know~ about the duel disk holographic system even though it had been publicly used in Battle City. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I liked how this started, but you seem to have lost focus since the introduction of Ame. I'm not a big fan of stories that seem to jump all over the place without at least one main plot -- subplots or arcs are fine but if there aren't any purposeful connections between these things it really ticks me off and I find myself skimming over paragraphs thinking "I could write this so much better" and at that point it's just not enjoyable to read anymore. Then again I'm also not a big fan of OC's that suddenly become main characters for no apparent reason so that may have something to do with my sudden lack of interest in continuing to read this story. Anyway, don't take this as a bad review per se, I liked most of what I read so far, I'm just quitting while I'm ahead so I don't start to dislike this fic. |
| Isis the Sphinx 2007-11-04 ch 23, | abuseOk plot, the one thing that reallt got on my nerves was that each side (SG-1/YGO) shared their secrets so easily. Not very accurate...one could say. Otherwise, very good, very funny. Keep writing! |
| SilverDragon-Purity 2007-10-26 ch 23, | abuseGreat story so far, but you might want to put humor under the fanfic description as well. Just a thought. Keep up the good work and update soon please! Oh and I can so see Jack wanting a duel disk, hey wouldn't it be funny to have SG-1 learn to duel? Just imagine the glorious chaos that would ensure. >:) |
| Escagirl 2007-10-15 ch 23, | abuseOhh... I love this. So. Much. Update soon, please, okay! |
| The Sisterhood08 2007-10-11 ch 23, | abuseI'd like to start out by saying that I'm troughly enjoying this story, though you've almost lost me a few times in the middle that could use some polishing. Secondly, I'd like to say that the final/23 chapter is extremely confusing. I read the intro to the school part several times and I'm still very confused. Original-Jack? Chibi-Jack? Huh? And I'd like to say that I completely agree with FireRain, including the part about the 23rd chapter. I'm not the biggest Stargate fanatic, but I was sure I knew all the important detales. Did I miss an important episode somewhere? Maybe you can modify is slightly to help those that don't know all the facts about Stargate? Anyway, keep up the great work. We're keeping an eye out for updates and the like. FireRain Gaelic Mystic |
| moonlit dew 2007-09-10 ch 23, | abuseOh, I absolutely ADORED your story! I read the first few chapters and I was hooked, HOOKED I tell you! Your sence of humor has left me curled on the floor, laughing my ** off, helpless and deffenseless, with tears running down my cheeks more than once! There are (sadly) so few good YuGiOh crossovers out there. Yours is one of the BEST! Keep up the good work and update soon! P.S. I LOVED Ame. I'm not normally a fan of OCs, but that guy is just too adorable and amusing for his own good! |
