I'm not a big fan of stream-of-consciousness writing, but the thoughts expressed in this fic were so valuable that it made the format seem worth it. I think you wrote his thoughts very well, and I liked the ending because it shows his conflicting emotions so well. This is an important piece of fanfiction-not enough people give serious thought about what it means to be Akito Souma, they just choose to blindly hate him because it's so easy to pin him down as the bad guy. Sorry to say, people, Fruits Basket does not have an antagonist! It's all about how our own self-loathing defeats us first.

Anyway, this is really cool because it captures that feeling of self-hatred within Akito, and it boldly proclaims that an injustice has been committed against the innocent man most Fruba viewers scorn. I love this! And I'm so happy to see that someone else recognized the importance of Akito's words in that last episode, and saw the change in his heart. Akito longs to be a good person and to give his love to his family, but he is imprisoned by anger and illness. It's really, really hard to change when your issues are that complicated, and as long as I see fanfiction out there championing this noble cause, I will know that there is hope for my mission to be successful. Great job with this! Preach it.

*strokes her ego* I LOVE this story. I love Akito's character too. So awesome. I never knew "he" could be so thoughtful. But then again, if you're destined to die and can't go anywhere what else do you have to do?

I've often wondered, how Akito would have reacted, if they had asked and not just told him, that he had to die for the family. I believe, he would have agreed, though.

This is such a good Akito-centric fic. I'm pretty sure these feelings are what when through his mind. I'm pretty sure that he was mad at how someone as naive as Tohru can make him rethink everything about living. Well Akito is my favorite character so I have many thoughts about him. You keep writing and I'll keep reading.

Akito hates her because she made him think and feel alive. That's... so interesting to me. Why would you hate someone like that? Is it because he thinks she'll take away his usefulness to the Sohmas? ...I'm rambling. _ But I like doing that in review spaces. Must-make-the-white-space-letter-filled! _ Anyway, I liked the fic and it captured Akito's personality perfectly.
