This is gorgeous - wrapped in an underlying parallel with the Silmarilli, it puts faces on the people who fled Gondolin. I love your Idril - she is just as wise and compassionate as I picture her.

This was excellent; one of the better stories I've read here. Wonderful job.

Very sobering and real, but with a good ending. It wouldn't be the same if Idril had allowed her to keep it. The last line especially was very good.
