This was amazing! So angsty, and I loved the writing style you used! Perfect!

I never thought I would ever read a fanfic so wonderfully written that I would be speechless afterwards, but your story did just that to me. Left me speechless, wide eyed, and in awe. I can't even think of anything too intelligent to comment other than this is amazing. Touching. And honest. Just brilliant.

I'm mesmerized, and deeply impressed you managed to keep going at the same pace throughout the entire one-shot. I'm feeling awfully down after this, though, and I'm going to hide in a corner somewhere and cry.

Yet, having forced myself to sort through oceans of messy-and-stupid-Dante-fics the whole evening (time's 10:25 pm here) this is a very much needed dose of seriousness and Awesome Writing. I'm sorry for the lack of constructive criticism, but you're a better writer than I am. To me, "Hero" is close to perfection, and I'm burning for more. Never quit writing!

I love a good character analysis. Really liked the bit about the whatever-the-opposite-of-conscience-is and the nature of evil.

Cool. I liked that there was a good dose of humor. "Never gonna get used to talking to cutlery and handwarmers" made me crack up so much.

You're on my favorite authors list. I recc your stuff all over the place. This fic was quite possibly the thing that sealed my addiction to DMC.

...and I just looked now and realized I hadn't reviewed. I thought I had. Sorry. The best Dante characterization I've ever seen. A lot of people, especially now, take his act (and Vergil's desperate self-image) seriously. He founded DMC specifically to get info on the destroyers of his family, waited for years, a spider in his lair... reminds me of Inigo Montoya. He makes it look so easy, most people think it is.

This is so cool! I love your take on Dante's character, and you wrote in just enough information that I, a person who doesn't know the plot or most of the characters, understood exactly what was going on yet wasn't bombarded with facts. This is very well done, and definitely on my favorites list!

Excellent characterization.

But this story drags, there is no dialogue or even a simple plot to break up the humdrum of paragraphs so Dante sounds like he's telling his story and his thoughts instead of whining. Setting is barely there. You've really put no detail or plot into this beyond Dante's thoughts. Which was your point but it will still be a narrative about a character musing over his lot in life even if you put some action into it.

It's extremely well-written, and I feel bad for saying this: But it's *boring* and kinda pointless.
