I like your story. Very interesting. In my opinion, we don't get nearly enough Fantine or Valjean stories (which is partly my fault, because I don't write them either!)
My only complaint is that in the earlier chapters there were several lines of dialogue, and you didn't specify who started to speak first. I found it a bit confusing. Other than that, great job! I hope you update this soon.

Only comment is to add a 'she said', 'Valjean replied' etc. to the dialogue. Sometimes it's confusing about who is speaking
