It's exhausting, this constant pretending, this lovely little parody of the life she'd always expected, as a child, that she would have one day. She loves this man, and God, she loves her daughter." And the broken glass is a wonderful image to end on -- I don't know if you had it in mind, but it reminds me of the coffee mug breaking at key moment in "the Usual suspects," which would fit thematically with this story! |

A wonderful job of blurring the lines, crossing them even.. the effect of living a lie so long must have taken its toll on her, whether she shows it or not. On a lighter note, the repartee between them is great, even with the deeper thoughts entwining their way in. Hmm.. makes me wonder just what she was doing 'yesterday afternoon'... |

This line in particular was fantastic: "Irina thinks this; Laura pours her husband's coffee." So...just wanted to say that this is a very good stay and thank you for writing it. |
