Wow, what can I possibly say to *that*? Except: FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC!

Everything from characterization, to voice, to description, and Mal's dialect in the narration added a very nice touch, and it wasn't overdone in the least bit which was nice because you could actually *hear* the character behind it. And, I love that Jayne named this particular gun Audrey, and that it allows the reader to assume he's named all of his guns. One of which I hope is named Mary-Ann because, come on. Like he doesn't have a gun named Mary-Ann. And Zoe was so good in this. I loved her interaction with Mal and Wash. And I *really* liked Mal in this. He totally would stay up all night to protect Serenity. Plus his obvious love for the crew made my heart melt. And I totally wasn't annoyed one bit with Book, so yay! There was never a point where I felt: "Shut up, Book." which is new for me, so thank you.

And the ending. How PERFECT! You wrote the buildup to that one scene so nicely that it was slightly agonizing but in a good way. Plus, it was so *them* that it ended on this unsure note because that's totally Mal/Inara, and have I mentioned that Mal all tongue tied makes me smile like a moron?

I don't know why this story doesn't have more reviews because it is every bit what a phenomenal fanfic should be what with the excellent plot/characterization/dialogue/Jayne in boxers, etc. But let me just tell you that this has been one of the best stories I've read in this entire section. Really brilliantly done.

The General

That was a great short! I love how you got the language and accents of the characters down perfectly. Jayne in his undies washing dishes made me laugh. The relationship between Mal and River was touching and perfect. Awesome job!

Fun and sweet. Different than most fics, nice for a change not to have Mal and whoever finish a job against unmentionable odds. Thanks for sharing your fic!

This is lovely. It reads like an episode. You have that 'verse rim lingo down and it can be tricky.

Eveything was simply marvelous - plot, characterisations, drama, angst! I felt you really captured Mal's love of ship and crew and his need to see them all safe - all bar himself of course. Inara coming to the rescue was a nice touch

I read this through in one go, couldn't stop, not until I knew how everything was going to work out in the end. The language, and the plot, and everything, it just feels so *right*. Very much like Firefly, very true to the characters - very interesting idea too. Did like how it played out in the end too. Thank you for writing this, I can't say how happy I was to find such a good long fic for Firefly!

What makes any fanfic terrific is the ability to capture the essence of every character. Your story has more than done so. The plot is extraordinarily developed, the characters are more than true to form and the language is completely Firefly/Wedonesque. This is a creative and electrifying story. I anticipate more stories from you as you have talent with words. Bravo to you!

Ouch. Owies all the way through, the more so because the characterization is so excellent. The occasional jump from plot point to plot point was a little disconcerting, but it usually smoothed out, and the ending was quite good. I loved your Mal and your River.

I'm astonished this doesn't have more reviews. The voices in this story ring true, and the dust of Icarus has the flavor of the television series. Clever use of the planet's name, by the way.
