No recriminations about Batman getting his little girl hurt, because he knows Barbara would have done it anyway, and Batman already feels badly enough. They're both alike in their protectiveness towards their children/wards/sidekicks and both have realized that you can't fix everything no matter how hard you try. But that doesn't mean you quit trying... And this extremely long monologue is just my long-winded way of syaing I liked the bittersweet, happy realness of this fic. :)

You did an awesome job with how Gordon must feel after retiring, with so many years behind him being right in the middle of the action. You even captured the trait he developed over years of working with the Bat clan, what I think makes him the best type of cop: his unwillingness to breach the sanctity of the cowl. Really enjoyed this little slice. And now, I'm gonna kit your list of fics to see what else you got out there. Keep it real!

MeShelly 2004-08-10 ch 1,	abuseThis was very sweet! I really liked how you handled Jim's character, all the little subtle things. Not just the part about tuned to wake at the sound of sirens, but cursing the cane, thinking of Batman when he sees Batgirl, and using his head. And your characterization of Batgirl was also well done. "There's no difference." LOL. That was a great conversation...I've always kind of wanted Jim to find out who Batman really is, but he has he reasons, and you present it as clearly as its going to get. That Jim feels more comfortable exposing Batgirl's body than her face was a great way of showing just how important he values the mask. I loved how Batgirl reacts to Jim and family photos. My favorite part was when she frowned, and then said "Good." Too bad Jim doesn't know the full story behind that. David Cain isn't exactly a model father. Glad Cass got a taste of what he could have been like, and has gotten another friend. Jim and Babs' conversation was also very cute, and the interaction between them was lovingly done. Is Jim ever going to find out that his vision is true? The ending was also a nice touch, with Jim as ease (or as much as possible) with the world. Very nice fic. ~Michelle
