This is so...perfect!

I didn't know you wrote for this fandom until I read your LJ post!

And wow, this is incredible. Really poignant, and it made me feel for the main character. Really, just lovely work. And I know it's old, but I can't help but review. :)

Oh goodness. That's very good. I'll admit, I'm guilty of the "pretty races get all the loving" myself, so this was a nice take on that. And Valygar deserves more love!

Yeah, the humans, elves, and half elves get all the love, don't they? Actually, Viconia will romance a half-orc, but he has to be male. I like that someone remembers that even a lady half orc has feelings too, so thanks. It's still sad though. Well written, but I kinda want to cry now...

Well, this is a surprise; I'm here because Bald as Malak mentioned something about your writing being good, but I didn't imagine I'd find non Star Wars fics I'd be interested in. Small world, it would seem.

Now, about the story itself, I found it quite touching and, of course, I have to commend you for the originality. I'm not exactly the biggest fan of first person, but your fic was worth closing an eye on that aspect. You've used some good figures of style to set the atmosphere at the beginning, too.

But the main thing this story strikes me as is diferent. An idea most writers wouldn't even consider, no happy ending, a flawed main character... quite some eye candy. Taking a break from all the happier things feels good.

The only criticism I'd have is the lack of anything to separate the story's two 'moments'. You could either place the past tense bit in italics, or put some separator between it and the peresent tense part.

Oh, and one more thing - I'm keeping a C2 in the Baldur's Gate section, to save the special stuff away from the bulk. I've placed this in there, because I just liked it that much; but if you somehow have an objection to make, tell me and I'll remove it.

...And sorry for the long rant.

Call me a jerk for reviewing old stories, but it was neatly written and very sad. And I wonder why Bioware was so superficial about romances... (According to an information I recieved, Viconia only romances half- orcs with a patch)

An amazing, tears invoking sad storry. It is greatly written and trully makes me feel for the character especially because I used to be an ugly duckling for a ruther long time... Oh, I don't wish to go into sad memories now. I also wanted to say, if you're interested there is a nice custom made module for BG2 called Solaufein. Yes that is that same solaufein from Ust-Natha. He was transformed into a great intriguing NPC who WILL actually romance the PC regardless their race. Just in case you've never heared about this mod i'll post the link to it. Check it out, I think you might like it =)

Wow. Very eloquent and painfully beautiful. I just started playing the Baldur's Gate series myself recently, and I've got to say, I'd thought about just this sort of thing while playing it, but I think I lack the skill to put it into words as graceful as you have. Well done.

How sad. Valygar knew that his attraction to her was only physical, and in her Drow form.

He was being noble, not accepting Nigh in that form. It's not her, and he knew any feelings the Drow form created him weren't real, and would disappear with the sun.

It's very well written... it's sad though, however, i quite like sad things, as long as they reflect some truth or beauty... so i like this story a lot. Thankyou for writing it!
