Why not include Nodoka in the conspiracy? Genma provides the example of an honorless louse; Nodoka provides the example of taking honor too far.

Yeah, I don’t blame you for not wanting to continue it, it’s not bad, but its a hard concept to believe, and must be even harder to write. I figure that, while you could continue it, the satisfaction of writing it would be dwarfed by the frustration required to complete it. Am I right? Ciao

This is quite an interesting spin on things. It is pretty funny and just out there. You could probably improve it by having flashbacks of certain events at random intervals.

This is priceless, Genma the genius playing the fool. It's too bad that this is so short as to be barely enjoyable before it's over already. Please write more if you ever feel compelled to expand on this little one-shot.

is there blanket premission to continue this? if so i think i could find someone to take the idea and make it into a full blown story with the diary entrys being one per chapter or even maybe one every other chapter this seems more like a frame work for a fic than a fic in and of it self

Obscenely brilliant! You're right, he's too accomplished to be as dismally stupid as he's shown to be. I thought this was darn fun.

A damn interesting fic! A portrayal of Genma as someone intelligent enough to make Nabs look slow. His methods, while over-the-top, did seem to make sense. He's set himself up to be the ultimate "bad example". I actually like this Genma, and in an odd way it actually fits with the fact that he created the Umi and Yama-senken. After all, you have to have a rather sharp mind to create styles so powerful that their own creator sealed them away.

I'd like to see more.

At the begining I thought that you was going to explain Ranma history with this idea.

That you went into an original direction surprise me, and that you didnt end this ... I hope that you will end this.

I think that you are using a lot of topics, mainly that Akane is a spoiless princess. But the history works so I cant complain. I hope that this Genma has enough time to help Akane too.

A question: When you wrote that "Ranma's learned the wrong way to deal with Akane to avoid the emotional pain she had been causing her" do you mean "Ranma's learned the wrong way to deal with Akane to avoid the emotional pain she had been causing him"?

About third and fourth effects you have to remember the butterfly effect. If Genma is as clever He must control side effects.

I hope that I help you with my comments.

Good luck with this fic.

Kinai.

You have pointed out, in one of your other posted works, that you dislike Genma, and I would normally agree with you on that topic. However, as with all of the background characters (which include everyone other than Ranma and Akane) in both the manga and the anime versions of the series, they were intentionally left as one-dimensional or two-dimensional characters, and the reader wasn't supposed to even try to understand why they did as they did. This serves the purpose of both easing the writer's creative burden, and to allow the reader to use their own reasoning behind the actions of the characters. But far too many fanfic authors seem to either leave them as they were in canon where the situation calls for, at least, near-three-dimensional ones. In this and all of your stories you seem to provide that added sense of dimensionality to the vast majority of relevant characters, their actions, and their responses. In short: You actually have the characters make sense.

What I'm trying to say is that you may not like the character of Genma, but your portrayal of him reveals an aspect that is exceedingly rare in fanon, and therefore appeals to those, like me, who like to see the occasional concept that challenges preconceptions and defies the fanon (and other) stereotypes. This version of Genma seems to truly believe he is raising Ranma the best way he knows how, and the justifications, regrets, and hopes you've given him for his actions simply bring more life to the story and make it that much more of a better read. Keep up the good work.

this is one of the most interesting fics about gnma that i have ever read. i am hoping that we get to see more of this genma, cause while he is not my favorite charator, ive never seen him as the sadistic bastard so many make himout to be. irresponsible? inconsiderite? sometimes lacking intelegence? yeas to all. but not sadistic or uncaring to ranma.

Here's your rave: great story, great concept.

There have been several, "genma's not so stupid" stories, but none, I think, with this depth and justification. An inner working of the complicated machinations which devised the Sealed Saotome Schools.

So many people think Genma and his son are just idiot savants, but that is almost impossible, martial arts as they practice it require too much knowledge, and associated disciplines.

Here are some ideas for the future:

Why is he doing this: My father always said to me, a parent's job is to make the parent obsolete. In other words, Genma is raising his son in such a powerful way as to the end will make Ranma his own man, entirely. He's not likely to have much to do with Genma, until he knows all, and has a child of his own to forgive.

With that said, Genma is just as much a human being as any. If you truely believe in the inner worth of any human, than blood is important, but not telling. Why can't Genma fall in love? He is human after all. Make him do a couple of things because they were important at the immediate time, or he thought is was good for himself.
