Great story so far. I've been thinking about what you said about intermixing the two dimensions and got to remembering about a certain pokemon game glitch that was in pokemon red and blue. It was called missing number and was able to be found near the safari area (If I remembered correctly). It was a sort of glitch in the game that you couldn't catch cause if you did then your data got corrupted, yet if you could meet it in your story as a ... back story ... then you can have it create a portal that Shadow could fall through. Hehehe. That could make things very interesting. Just a thought, and good luck with your writers block on romance scenes.
