2004-09-05 . chapter 1Well, well! Another masterpiece from the great Empress herself! ^_^ This is SUCH a welcome relief from the dozens of extra zodiac member fics (or the Western Zodiac, or the injured-girl-who-just-happened-to-fall-outside-of-Shigure's-door fics, etc. ad nauseum) and it's such a WELL-WRITTEN relief, too! ^_^
I really, REALLY love how you did Kana's dream sequences (or memories, rather). They're so fragmented, but they're all pieces of the anime episodes. So while they're confusing to poor Kana, they have meaning for your readers. Nice. ^_^
I also like Kana's confusion over her brain's answers to some of her questions. In the past, the reason for not hugging Hatori would've been obvious, but now that she's lost her memory, it makes no sense to her, though her brain is still acting like it does. Actually, her confusion in general was very well done, as well as the sense of frustration I'm getting from her because she can't QUITE remember. ^_^
Your characterization of Kana and Hatori is spot-on. I can even hear their voices saying the lines in my head (especially Hatori), which to me indicates that the characters are EXACTLY IC, that even the original author of the series couldn't do a better job with their characterization. Excellent work.
This fic really is a joy to read, Dots. I hope you can keep enough inspiration to update it frequently, because if the beginning is any indication, I'm going to LOVE this. And yes, I know, I went overboard with the capitals, but I adore this fic so much that I need to emphasize it somehow! ^_^
