Jebb 9/15/04 . chapter 1
Good to see a new story and what a premise this is

It looks like it is going to be a real roller coaster as far as emotions are concerned Aragorn is chilling and the quote at the start gives us a few clues as to where this will go

more soon I hope

*stares at screen* Oh my god... that's a wonderful beginning. Oh my god...

So dark and lovely... so boding of ill... so... scary... it reminds me of the chill pervading Irena's "For the Good of Gondor," and that is not praise I give lightly. But then you know how I adore both her writing and yours.

I am intrigued by the changes in Aragorn, and I fear the quote you chose from that particular chapter... *shivers* As Willy Wonka might say, the suspense is terrible! I hope it lasts... (smile)

The mood you set with the weather, then sliding onward to a clear winter between Arwen and her King, is very well done. And I got chills when Aragorn's reaction to Legolas traveling with Gimli was to become coldly angry and say he disobeyed... oh... I really look forward to the next chapter. GREAT start, nin mellon!

Where I live, it snows in April quite regularly, so while I sympathize with Arwen, I don't think the weather is too weird. Although, of couse, this is Gondor, which is a warmer climate.

I love your writing, Lamiel, so I'm over here timidly reading this story, but I have a very low tolerance for descriptions of suffering so I may have to eventually cover my eyes and run away. I also really need to know why Aragorn is so OOC. I assume you have a clever answer. You always do. :-)

This looks like a fairly amazing story you've set up. The idea of Aragorn as a villain is more than a little disturbing, as is the understanding that there is a great deal going on that the audience does not yet know about.

You've created a thrilling teaser, and I'm interested to see where it goes (Aragorn gets nice again, right? Right?)

On another note, I don't know who you are, but you're an excellent writer. Just please return my sister to me unharmed and intact.

Well, well, what a nice early morning surprise! I'm glad you could hold out no longer to get this new story up and running.

Great scene setting. Lovely images. I admire your meticulous attention to the Tolkien details, and the proper words to describe the stuff of medieval life: leaded windows, alehouses, mead. These words increase the authenticity of your work and helps to bring the reader properly into the setting. You have done your research, and that is no small thing. You took care and thought it all out before putting pen to paper. If only we all took such pains... what quality stories we would have!

But the mood is uneasy here. Things do not seem quite well with Arwen. There is a sadness. Then Aragorn comes in - loved the sound of his boots as he came up behind her - and... and... he's wrong, somehow. Ep. He gave me the heebie-jeebies, to be honest. And it appears he does the same to his wife.

To talk of Legolas disobeying and dishonoring him, dominating her by pulling on her hair... something is rotten in the state of Gondor.

"The life stirred within her". Is she pregnant, or is she just filled with relief that Legolas has come, since it quite apparent she desperately needs his help with the King?

Maybe Gimli was not supposed to come, but I have the feeling it's a good thing he did. Whatever is in store here, we're going to need that steady dwarf to keep an eye on things.

I'm all shivers to see what you have planned for us, Lamiel! Write on!

I am intrigued. Great opening chapter! The reader can almost feel the tension and fear in Arwen. I look forward to see how this story progresses.

That is an excellent opening chapter and a half if ever I saw one!

I cannot tell you how excited, intrigued and anxious I am about what is to come. You have already hinted at an exceptional plot which is a given regarding a fic by you anyway :) and I cannot wait to see where you take us...

Aragorn *shudders* he is obviously not... himself... I can only begin to imagine what might have happened or what is happening to him and your summary is not going to let my mind rest with all it's musings!

Arwen was wonderful in this chapter. The fact that she was so true to character at the beginning made her transition upon Aragorn's arrival that much more disturbing.

I apologise for having been so idle in reviewing the last few wonderful chapters of 'In the Deep Places'. The chapters' kept me going on mornings when I needed cheering up in the face of many evil college finals. Now that it is all over however things are still hectic... but once things are settled I am going to tackle that monster of a pile in my Inbox ;)

Thank you for posting and sharing what will be another excellent fic!

Can't wait to read more, please...

UPDATE SOON!

So now Aragorn is evil? How? Why? I hope that you will make him to see the light again! To speak true, I do not like a bad or cruel Aragorn, but the plot is interesting. Update soon!
