rereading this again, I am very much in love with Hermione's reaction to Lucious when he was torturing Harry. Not at all for the anger and intensity of her desire to kill him, but for the REASON behind it.

You showed what a lot of people feel is, "unethical" "unchristian" but in reality it's pure, raw love.

very nice.

This is a odd story, I wonder how McGonagall feel when she find out that Hermione has no choice in the dark mark. Hermione must have done something for the professor and most of the students to turn there back on her, i don't believe the reason that they can't take the chance.

I almost killed him."

"But you didn't."

"But I wanted to. I wanted him to die."

"You wouldn't be human otherwise."

this is one of the truest statments I've ever read.
And one of the best stories as well.

Seriously, this surpassed everything I suspected.

Never lose this ability.

very, very intriuging, in a world of fanfic where authors write betrayal as simply cut black and white, one side or the other, you bring it into reality, that nothing can ever be that simple..

excellent.

Awh. That was so sweet. About how Harry would have believed in her even if all evidence proved she was a death eater. I and LOVE that scene with Lucius. Makes me want to hate him. x.x

And the way you portrayed Ron...made me like him a bit. And I usually hate him, so big improvement.

Keep on writing...and maybe sequel? -angelface-

Just a wonderful, wonderful story. Every now and then I have to come back and read it again. Maybe you'll write another such H/Hr masterpiece one day? Something refuting Deathly Hallows? :-)

Wow. The conversation between H & H about trust - both before and after Harry whipped off the manacles - was inspired.

I did like your characterization of Ron in Chapter 2. It was nice to see inside his musings in such a way.

I first want to say that this is very well written. There is a preposterous air to it though, which I really feel must be mentioned. First, your timelines are messed up. Minerva McGonnagal would have graduated one or two years ahead of Tom Riddle. She was not a teacher then. Second, McGonnagal is a very capable witch. It has never been mentioned if she's able to do occlumency or legilimency, but she would be able to test the mark to make sure it is what it appears to be. If it were an actual dark mark, then it would link Hermoine to the death eaters. Third, and I think most importantly, there is no way McGonnagal could shut down the lines of communication in the way that she stated she had done. Malfoy, for example, has his own owl and is not dependent upon the owlery in any way. This is the most important point because if McGonnagal would have to be a fool to imagine that she could keep this from the Daily Prophet so easily. Also, Hermoine is muggle-born. Voldemort's hypocracy only extends so far. He does declare pure-blood all important, even though he's half. However, he doesn't have any problem with the total anhilation of muggle-born wizards, including those like Hermoine.

Now that you probably hate me for picking your plot apart, I do want to say again that this is well written. I have read many stories on fanfiction where an author couldn't put together enough plot to have someone pick it apart. I hope that I don't discourage you in any way, because even though I feel you missed the characterization, you still have all the marks of an exceptional writer, and more than likely, you'll have your own work on shelves soon. When not limited to someone else's characterizations, you are probably capable of amazing stories. It is clear that you can carry through an idea and present it in an interesting and thought provoking way.

I know I've reviewed this story before but I came back for a revisit and felt I had to tell you again how great I thought it is. I've recently come across an excellent work-in-progress which is written from Hermione's viewpoint, and it's made me appreciate all over again how few really good stories are out there that are written from her side. So I came here to re-read the only other one I can think of at the moment.

It's a pity that - from what your updated profile states - you've left Harry Potter for other fandoms. Still, I'll always hope that one day you might feel the need to write another short story that explores the depth of the friendship between Harry and Hermione (particularly since it seems that JKR won't be doing same!).

Thanks again for this story, and good luck with your law career!

Sorry I am being lazy, but it is very late and i have been using your stories to avoid my essay and studying for midterms and finals lol. I read all of your Harry Potter stories and they were great, particulary "A Sight Problem" which made me feel better after stressing out about my work, and "Normality" which made me feel better about the 6th HP book (I like HP&HG, though that they would be perfect and that would be the pairing, but it is not...so I will keep the romance up in the HPAU ^o^)...anyway...it was great and keep up your writing!

I love this story. I've actually never read a fanfic about Hermione being accused of betrayal, and I think this one is very well done. I love the way you explore Harry's and Ron's thought processes as they try to make sense of her Dark Mark.

aw, thats so sweet...

{Cough, gasp!}

sorry, sugar poisioning ;D

seriously though that is an excellent story about trusting people, it takes a long time to build up trust in a person, but after you've hit a certain point, it becomes hard to stop trusting them as well. Thankfully by the time you've hit that point you generally know the person your putting you trust in quite well.

excellent story,
Keep up the good work!

That was a truly remarkable tale - well-told, well-paced, interesting, involving, and of all things, believable. :D I particularly liked the way it ended, with Ron doing his Potions homework (in apology) and that simple, lovely clarifying sentence about Harry and Hermione's relationship. Danger, drama, love, and belief. Ain't life grand? Congratulations on a brilliant job. :-)
