Yeah, yeah, you wrote this years ago - I know - but who's to say I can't review?
Though this was a terrifically beautifully written piece, I must begrudgingly admit that it pulled and twisted a tad too many heartstrings for my liking towards the end. [[Especially since I have always rather detested Scarlet . . . okay, 'hated' being more the word I'm going for.]] And now I'm left cynical and despairing and in desperate need of a hardcore Reffie fic to clear me of this dazed and teary eyed expression.
And for that, I compliment you. It takes one hell of an author to make me lose myself to such an extent in their writing. It was completely believable and the prose was fantastic.
And I liked it because of that; y'know, despite my twitchy eyed hate for the winning couple. Because in the words of Wayne Pocock (whose origin and purpose in life are completely lost on me): "Life is only a combination of different experiences. Demand to enjoy them all."
p.s: TOOL, APC and any of Keenan's little side experiments kick some serious ass. Hell, yes.
Absoluetly wonderful. Awesomness to everything. Loved how you portrayed Reno. Loved how you portrayed all of the characters, great characterization. Much appluase goes to this as it was a great read. ;; It always gave me something to look forward towards whenever I had the time to read at the end of the day.
Holy fucking Hell. First things first: I read this all in one sitting, wasting perfectly good time I should have been spending writing, or God forbid, studying for exams.
And damn it all if I didn't just love it and totally feel that my waste of time was worth it.
Second thing: I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THE ENDING
Seriously, I'm not just sucking up for the sake of being in Reno S.'s favor (which would do me what good, really?). I really thought that played out well, and good and crazy and... ya.
Yuffie was such a red herring. Clever bastard you.
But I'm really really impressed with your Scarlet characterizations. Really. Like that other story you're working on. Since this one is COMPLETE, I'm babbling.
So, I see this with Shinra people, cause, let's face it, they aren't the best moral setup. Even Reeve, who we know is a good person behind the toy fetish, has some issues in that department.
Egads, I'm launching into Turk Theory 101. Glad I don't write them much. Complicated. XD
I have to say that this storie is one of the few that made me go O_O at the end. And that doesn't happen very often.
Even though I'm a fan of Reffie, I have to say that this is one of your best works so far, IMO. I didn't review the others (mainly 'cause I'm lazy) but I've read them all.
Thought I seriously dislike Scarlet, I loved the personality you gave her. And Reno... well, your Reno just IS Reno. Seriously.
One thing though... since this not a Reffie fic (well, it has some Reffieness but that's not the point), how come it is in the Reffie C2 community?

o_o STILL. This has been one of the best things I've ever read by you. Truly a Spiegel work of materpeice and genius. Everything was perfect down to the last detail.
Don't think I've reviewed this one yet. It has been most enjoyable to read all the way through, though. And I just loved the ending, I really do. I have one response to the first bit of your author's note.
"That's so fucking immoral! That is so totally out of character!" Uh... that's Reno? Not that I dislike the Reno/Yuffie pairing, but in this circumstance, his reaction was entirely justified and perfectly in character.
Definite kudos to you for doing something so... unexpected. I am most pleased. Not many fics surprise me like this one did.
And while Reno and Scarlet is not a traditional match-up, I can really see how it works. Often I don't like romances because they're written as "Character A meets character B, and after a few chapters they fall in love."
But in reality, aren't two people more likely to truly be in love if they're friends first? There's some kind of quote about that, but I don't remember it at the moment. So yeah... Reno/Scarlet definitely a good match here. And so unexpected, because so many people hate Scarlet.
Oh my God! How could you just have him up and leave Yuffie like-I'm just kidding, seriously. If you say she did it for the money, then so be it. I'm glad at least Reno and Scarlet got their happy ending. At least Yuffie would have a home with a father and a kingdom of helpers in Wutai if she wasn't kidding. (Having a one-year-old makes it slightly more emotional in reality though)
I really, really liked this story and have been reading it for a while now. It's quality shit with few errors and humanity all over. I have a very good idea of exactly how Reno's week went. Belated Merry Christmas.

Dude. i liked it.
but to really piss off your readers you should build up a story...
and then at the end a bomb goes off and every one dies.
"OH MY GOD! HOW COULD YOU HAVE HIM JUST UP AND LEAVE YUFFIE LIKE THAT? THAT'S SO FUCKING IMMORAL! THAT IS SO TOTALLY OUT OF CHARACTER AND I HATE YOU FOR IT!" just doesn't quite seem to cut it. :P
Now, I couldn't care one way or the other about Yuffie's feelings, or how right or wrong Scarlet and Reno are for each other. It's not about that. It's a question of style. The chapter itself was good, but it didn't really seem to belong with the rest of the story.
Throughout the whole thing, you had Reno struggling with himself as to whether or not he and Yuffie could work out, what kind of a father he'd be (probably a lousy one), and what it would do to his career if word got out.
Then suddenly, forgotten are the worries, and Reno is entertaining the idea of marrying Scarlet. As much as I like this story, and it was a very good one, the ending just seemed misplaced. Well written, full of good content, but it just doesn't match the rest of the story. You turned an angst and humor filled story into a humorous romance. No real climax, no real resolution. Reno ran from his problems instead of owning up to them, and I feel a little cheated.
That's it for now. Good story overall, and if the ending had been a stand-alone, I would have liked it, but as a part of the whole, it just didn't sit right with me.
Yeah yeah yeah. blah blah. Unlike most Reffie fans... i like that ending. Even if it was kinda... unexpected? And yet, at the same time, not. I applaud thee. XD Just one question? Are they (don't wanna give away the ending for people who read reviews before they actually read the story) still gonna be friends? Because that would suck. I mean... two freaking years and BAM! It's over. Done. Finished. XD Anyways, good job. laters.
