This really should've been rated T, for dark themes, curse words, and some instances of pseudo-nudity (i.e. Asuka playing the game while only clad in her undergarments). Also, judging from this fic, I guess it would be safe to assume that degrading students as a school penalty is acceptable in Japan, unlike in the United States.

While I'm reviewing this, would you mind telling me the name of the game Asuka was playing?

This was amazing. You resolved nothing but your current plot, but you hint that MAYBE, just maybe, things will turn out better than in the origional series. This was really cute and well written, and fit the flavor of the origional series perfectly. Well done. A story like this needs a sequel, so if you have plans for one, I encourage you to write one.

i saw this story on another site, but it was missing the last few chapters. when i found it here, i was truly glad to finish it. it is a very nice piece of work that was a joy to read.

An interesting side of Rei was uncovered in this chapter. In the anime and somewhat in the manga she blindly moves forward, but when she meets Shinji he deflects her off course if you will. The talk with Kaji was really nice too as well as his advice to her.
Hikari and Asuka's interaction was disturbing, of course I was surprised at what Asuka did... In the series, I don't think that the two of them were that close really it was more like they had reached an understanding with each other. Again, excellent chapter.

This review is for chapters four and five. For the life of me I couldn't get the bottom part of the page from chapter four to load so it's all together here. Chapter four brought more of a change for Rei and Misato... It seems as if Shinji's baby-self is forcing them to look at themselves with a critical eye and forcing them to act on wht they see [force is too harsh a word I think, maybe allowing them would be more appropriate].
Chapter five did a number on my head. Asuka's behavior really freaked me out. Did that incident trigger some sort of personality disorder? The writing and plot have been superb to this point.

I agree, very good chapter. I also believe that Rei experienced emotions, but Gendo raised her as an emotionless doll. He thought that emotions were bad and that they got in the way of his scenario. If you remember when Rei self-destructed unit 00, the angel attempted to use her love for Shinji to trick Rei into "becoming one" with him. The angel wanted Rei to infect Shinji by doing this. Of course Rei saw through this and blew herself and the angel up [it always makes me cry when I see it]. Your best chapter so far, and it is indeed very good.

I actually think that you got Asuka's character right on so far, and your explanation in the Author's Notes in the end explain it all... Interesting turn of events coming I think.

Unique idea, Shinji being a baby again. Everyone gets to see a different Shinji - A happy Shinji. Something they haven't seen before. Misato and Ritsuko seemed to be very deep (their characters were), you fleshed out their characters very well. I'm really interested in this story, it seems to have a special feeling attached to it. On to the next chapter!

This is a very good story and I like the ending. Nothing is fully resolved but one gets a sense of progress and hope for new beginnings. I was so worried when Gendo came to 'terminate' Rei and it was great seeing him be put in his place. I'm glad Asuka got a chance to release some of her pain. I also really like how Misato got a chance to grow up a little. You are now one of my favorite authors and I hope you continue with your works, especially Chosen. ;)

... this turned out to be pretty good- I was sort of expecting something a little less serious and mature when I read the title, but this story proved me DEAD wrong! Even if your title is a bit misleading, the story is superb, and I enjoyed every moment I read it. An interesting, if not entirely original concept (I'm sure someone has tried this before...), but very well executed. And the way you OOCed Rei, it just seemed so RIGHT. In fact, the way you made little chibi-Shinji grow on everyone seemed realistic enough, and when the time came for the little chibi to grow up, the reactions from the Katsuragi household... just heartbreaking, ya know? I was crying buckets on the inside because that was so emotional and beautifully done.

This is going on my Favorites list when I need some good EVA fiction to read (it's rare these days, ya know?).

This fic ruled! Never before have I read a fic like it. It's really original. A great fic!

You know, even with an open ending, one always has a feeling of completion when such an epic reaches its end. I agree with others: altough it can be considered to be finished, and epilogue would be nice. Open endings have become trademank in anime, but a neat end is always welcome (hey, I just finished watching Chobits, nuff said).

Oh, by the by, you really should remove the [To be continued] at the end of chapter 8 on your own site. Well, umm, unless you really DID plan on an epilogue. hehe
