abuseOh yes Umbridge would have burnt the books - gr evil toad...

This story reminded me so much of the library staff at my first job when the government wanted access to library records as part of 'anti-terror' legislation... There was a lot of discomfort about the idea.

Really good story!

abuseOkay, if I ever have to give up on my undying and vaguely obscene love for Minerva McGonagall, Madame Pince is now next in line.

abuseROTFLOL! though - I must say (well ok so I don't know any British librarians so I can't say for sure) that most librarians would not keep records past whom has a book out at any given time (though perhaps Hogwarts does have need of records being kept) but OH MY GOODNESS this was hilarious (especially in light of the fact of librarians and the Patriot act... yeah you want to get a bunch of American librarians riled up faster than anything else - just mention "Patriot act")

Though this does make me think that perhaps if I shall ever give in and try writing my own fanfic that I might have to do one on the secret life of Irma Pince - based off of all the hilarious very cool, very unstereotypical and yet stereotypical librarians I know... Better yet maybe we find out where she got her MLS - maybe she decided to come over here for some reason? oh my the places you can go with a character you don't know much about... (personally I'm not all that fond of how she is shown in the book - doesn't speak very well for librarians, and isn't reflective of the vast majority of us anyway)

abuseNods...yes she would have burned books, checked reading habits, and continued with her gestopo tactics. I've always felt that Dumbledore should have left her to the centaurs and/or made sure that the acromantulas got her. It would have solved a lot of problems...sighs. Hats off to the unholy alliance of the twins and Madam Pince! Umbridge should know better than to tick off someone who has access to lots of obscure information... snicker. It would be such a pity if the students got their hands on some of the more interesting stuff (wink). Thanks for an excellent vignette!

abuse*grovels at your feet*

that was...amazing. I've never really thought much about madam pince, which is suprising in itself, considering our shared avid love of books. now, whenever i happen to come across her name in the books, your story will come to the forefront of my mind. I loved pince's character, especially the firm but loving handle on her babies, and her general disdain for those little heathens.

umbridge was also spot on, and i wouldn't have been at all suprised if she had started burning books. the appearance of the weasley twins was, of course, one of the highlights of the fic. gotta love the twins.

extroadinarily original, very entertaining and well written. kudos on doing such an amazing job.

huh, I've already groveled at your feet...what would it take to get another one shot like this,hm?

should i lick the shoes?

abuseI love this story! I've put it on my userpage and told my friends about it. It's a brilliant one start on how truely evil Umbridge could have been.

abuseSo nice. I love storys that center around side characters like Filch or Pince, and I think she's very much in character, too.

abuseThe first story from Madam Pince's point of view that I've read, and I like it. It must have been hard for her to burn all those records, but certainly better than letting Umbridge have them. And while the lovely High Inquisitor did not burn any books, she does seem just the type of person to do it.

One question, though. How can you read an invisible book? Or does it turn visible once you open it? I liked that hungry grimoire, too, and Madam Pince threatening to storage it. :P

Great story! :D

abuseI'd seen this on dozens of people's favorite lists, but I'd never taken the time to read it. I'm so glad I finally did.

I adore this. Adore it. This is what it means to love books and wisdom and freedom. Love.
