Duco Lacuna 2008-05-25 . chapter 2I loved this! It was really well-written and you captured the haunting atmosphere fantastically.
Wonderful work! :D |
Matt Quinn 2008-03-27 . chapter 2Very interesting. Never seen "Patriot" fanfiction before and seeing Tavington as something other than an evil, ruthless fellow is quite interesting. |
sonja 2007-02-07 . chapter 1 Haha, what a wonderfully wicked imagination you've got. Loved it! |
LadyJenilyn 2005-02-06 . chapter 2I must have been off in la-la land because somehow I missed this fic! I first saw it on the Tavington fic site while re-reading Et In Arcadia Ego. This is really creepy, gross and well written. Tavington seems very much in character- so the hag was actually "riding" him while he was having erotic dreams? But he doesn't seem to realize this. Too creepy! EEK! Lord Frederick is a nice foil to Tavington. Sad about the slave, but it was very dramatic and creepy that the only thing left over was his turban. I hope there are no boo-hags here in Arkansas... |
Yagr of Nar 2005-02-02 . chapter 2An excellent, creepy tale. Especially well-set in the Carolinas... so many writers seem to believe that Louisiana has taken North America's entire ration of swamps for itself.
I was sorry to see the slave known as Ali Baba fall victim to the boo-hag, but it was nearly inevitable that the only man left alone would be the first casualty. And, your choice to express Cavendish's defeat in his decision to leave the colonies rang very true: the least competent, worst-prepared, (but best-connected and politically protected) character lives to escape - and no doubt to lie about his adventure for the rest of his life.
A good bit of dialog as Ali misunderstands Cavendish's correction of his address: "My Lord, Corrected Cavendish..." "Yes, sir, that's what I say. It's a dead man..."
I imagine that beneath his expressionlessness, 'Ali' had long since decided that his new master was an inept coward more apt to call for divine assistance than to face his misfortunes with resoursefulness. |
carnivalglass 2004-11-28 . chapter 2Another gem. You are one talented writer. |
 ladymarytavington 2004-11-06 . chapter 2 Very freaky! What's next? |
angelfish23 2004-11-01 . chapter 2 Icky, really icky! That was really good! |
Carolina Girl 2004-10-30 . chapter 2 Very good chapter! This was very spooky indeed! At the end the reader is left to imagine all sorts of things. Very icky images that go through the reader's mind - ugh! You do have a very good imagination. |
Zubeneschamali aka Beta Librae 2004-10-29 . chapter 2Thanks for getting part two up within the same week! It was every bit as creepy and chilling as I could have asked. I just wish the monster had got Cavendish instead of poor Ali Baba. But speaking of monsters, given how Tavington is all too often portrayed as one himself, it made a pleasant change to read a Tavington fic featuring an evil inhuman ogre that *wasn't* Tavington.
Now if you update "God Save the King!" this weekend, you'll have made my week! |
LCWA 2004-10-29 . chapter 2Yes! A hellacious climax with Tav and swords, just like I wanted! That's a good monster, by the way. Happy Halloween to you too! |
pigeonsfromhell 2004-10-29 . chapter 2Br! This is creepy! Wonderful horror story! Your use of language was exquisite. Tavington is himself throughout. The contempt he showed for Cavendish at the end was chilling. You imply that the monster had him earlier in the night, but he never seems aware of it. That's creepy too. Thanks for the Halloween treat! |
Foodie 2004-10-29 . chapter 2 EW! That was so gross! Cool, but gross! I sure hope that thing is dead, but seeing as it seems to be some sort of undead creature, it might not be. Maybe it'll try to hunt them down! Great stuff, how perfect for Halloween! |
ladymarytavington 2004-10-26 . chapter 1 Very interesting! Can't wait to see where this is going to go! |
angelfish23 2004-10-26 . chapter 1 Oh I LOVE scary stories. Please update as soon as you can! |
