Jelsemium 1/30/12 . chapter 1This is a good story, thanks for writing it.
In case you're interested, there is now a Tintin category in the comics section. You'd probably get a bunch of readers if you switched categories. |
Daenis TooShy 12/10/11 . chapter 1Extremely well done, and I liked the descriptions you gave before beginning the story, albeit I'm a reader of both comics regardless.
I'm also biased, because Death happens to be my favourite character for the simple reason that she's the opposite to what we perceive the humanised symbol of 'death' to be.
Anyway!
The story itself is really well done, you have Death and Tintin spot-on (Tintin would seem like the calm 'shut everything down' type if he were to get cancer, to be honest), AND, you've inspired me to perhaps do a little tidbit myself on the idea of a Sandman/Tintin crossover - even though I rarely consider crossovers in the first place.
Keep it up! Hopefully with the new film, there'll be more Tintin fics :) |
 PersianLady 4/21/05 . chapter 1its okay! You did a grast job! |
BoneSatellite 6/16/04 . chapter 1 Sweet, angsty, and satisfying. I suddenly wish there were more Tintin fics around. |
YT1 11/22/02 . chapter 1A Sandman/Tintin crossover! Now that's a surprise, even though any fanfic writer accquainted with Sandman knows that it can be crossed over with just about anything.
Although when you do that, the story becomes a Sandman story, whether you will or no. It's kind of creepy that way.
I like how you built on Tintin's character. He's a sweet guy (one of my childhood crushes, actually), but as you pointed out he isn't very "deep." But as far as I know, none of Herge's characters really are.
What's really freaky is that I had this idea in my head for a Tintin/Sandman crossover myself, although the only crossover element would be Morpheus' pouch of dream sand. But it's not a project that I plan to undertake in the near future - I have some other plot bunnies to deal with first. :P
Now that I've seen your stuff, though, I'm definitely going to write it someday. When I get around to it. ;) |
 Gabriel O'Ryan 8/9/00 . chapter 1 ...I don't know what to say.
I've read some of the graphic novels explaining Death's origins (family including Dream, Death, Desire, Destruction, Dispair, etc.) and every Tintin book ever drawn, but I still don't know what to say.
This story changes Tintin, but the change is one less motivated by true maturity, than by resolve. This whole 'finite time' idea has... well, it hasn't broken him, but it has locked him inside of himself, like an animal that crawls under a bush to die. He matures not because it's a natural progression of his personality, neccisarily, but maybe just because it dosen't matter any more. He dosen't have to deal with the consequences of maturing, he barely has time to even arrive.
I'd say Tintin's pale new friend is good for him, but to be honest, I am having a hell of a time being objective about this story, because it's *Tintin*. Having him get sick like that was the one thing I never considered when trying to picture how Tintin would turn out, as an adult.
Given the situation, however, Tintin was written quite well. His personality seems to be just beyond where he was at the end of 'Tintin and the Picaros'. |
Puffinstuf 6 4/23/00 . chapter 1 Nice! Bit of a common way to die for someone who's been through many things though, isn't it? |
