This was a fantastic read! I love your characterization on these two (spot on, esp. Shikamaru).

Interesting formating too, I've never seen that done before. I like how the non-italicized sentences are all questions, save the last four, which are 'answers' I suppose. It's like those non-italicized sections could stand alone in their own piece (though of course the italicized paragraphs fill everything in very nicely).

No dialogue save Ino's "would you teach me to play?"... and it's so appropriate.

"persnickety friendship" describes their relation perfectly.

i have probably read this story several times over and it never ceases to give me satisfaction and pleasure. this is one of those stories that i am so grateful i have found because of how well it is written and how it depicts a wonderfully developing relationship between shikamaru and ino. very poetic, fluid. of course, i have some little critiques that come to mind after reading it so many times, but it is better that i dont address them as they are pretty insignificant and i certainly would not want to ruin a well-written story by making any changes. so thank you for giving me the happiness of reading such a great story. well done.
