ViveRonPaul! 2008-02-29 . chapter 1 Obviously, it's now time for the new elections. I apprecciate your sentiments however. :D The one thing I disagree with is regarding the Pledge. My personal belief is that it is a very good thing that God is still included (to a decreasing degree)in this country. Other than that, I loved it. :) And yeah, obviously we disagree on the pledge bit, and neither of us will change our minds, so...yeah. This isn't a flame, just a statement of opinion. :) |
Phan24601 2007-01-13 . chapter 1 nice attempt, but try to make your learics fit the rythm a bit more and make it funnier. |

Barricade.Boys 2005-10-26 . chapter 1Nice... I just never say the whole "Under God" part. I believe it's completely un-Constitutional. Good for you for helping to get the word out! Good luck on your endeavors!

n/a 2005-06-23 . chapter 1 i hate bush. there i said it. this war he is leading us into has no point and i personally just think he's an overall idiot. however, using this song to promote your political views was a poor choice. really it doesn't fit in with les miz at all it is a completly different scenerio but if you were to use one of these songs a better choice would have been "do you hear the people sing?" or "red and black" |
The Patient 2005-05-26 . chapter 1ha ha ha that so funny keep up the good work! bown with bush![thank goodness 4 more years until it's over... than NOT AGAIN!]

Javert's Suicide 2005-03-30 . chapter 1DISCLAIMER: Nothing said here shows the opinion of Javert's Suicide
Sort of. Actually, all of it does. I agree. Psht...for all I care, Bush can...(I can be civil, I know I can)...go to...(not hell, not hell) Africa. I hate him. Like this. |
 h sibelius 2005-03-10 . chapter 1 "I don't know which to correct first,your blatantly ignorant political
views or the way you chose to express them.
Well, I'm not going to touch that. When I am outraged by something, I know what I feel, kiddies. However, I do not need these opinions "corrected".
"Les Mis is an incredibly religious novel. Using a song from it to
bash religion is quite disrespectful. 1800's France was a totally
different political atmosphere than the USA. This simply doesn't fit
at all. You'd be better off with an anti-religion one like The
Hunchback of Notre Dame."
Now. This piece was NOT anti-religious. It is anti-"let's force religion on little kids who don't know any better". Religion is very important to society... But if you were forced to say "One nation under Allah" every day, I doubt that you'd be pleased. The message- let me clarify- is freedom and equality, which Les Miserables stresses.
"Enjolras would have hated Kerry. Such lack of regard for one's
comrades would have disgusted him. Also, the way he abandoned the
POWs in Vietnam and was for the enemy. Enjolras thought that France
needed improvement, but I didn't see him going over to England or
anything."
First off, let me say that I have very little love for Kerry. However... Anybody but Bush. No, Enjolras Wouldn't have left France. However, Enjolras was against useless expendatures. What would one call the war in Iraq? A useless expendature.
"But, above all, I find this most distasteful. The parody was hardly
clever, and I see no backing for your opinions. Just a bunch of
irrational Bush hatred, expressed in a song that's about love--not
hate. Also, I don't see you secular folk who supposedly hate saying
"one nation under God" in the pledge complaining about getting
Christmas off of work/school."
Perhaps I should have put more backing for my opinions, then. However, I can't see how it would have come close to fitting with the lyrics... Just my opinion. However... On My Own? About love? Not the way I see it. It's about so much more than love... Primarily, hate. Yes, I think that Eponine hates Marius as much as she loves him. But I won't go into that now. Per getting Christmas off of work and school? I don't know where you're from, but we refer to said holidays as the "New Years" or "winter" holidays.
"If you want to mix Boubil and Schonberg with American politics, go
listen to Miss Saigon. On second thought, don't. I don't want to
hear a version of I'd Give My Life for You about how there's going to
be a draft when "Bushco" invades Iran."
I sincerely hope that you didn't mean that literally. I'm wracking my brain now for a way that that would work and am coming up with nothing.
"You said that you don't mean to be offensive, but I don't see how
this could be anything but. I hate Kerry more than you hate Bush, I
guarantee, but I'm not going around writing song parodies about him.
It doesn't have a place on , especially such a classic like Les Mis.
If you take offense to what I said--well, I was just turning the
tables."
No offense is taken, in all honesty. You see, we're all entitled to our own opinions and to our ability to express them as we please, and I find a forum dedicated to a politically-minded book to be an appropriate place for such artistic license.
One word more. In an effort to prevent offense, I added a disclaimer to the summary. I'm not going to say "If you don't like it, don't read it" because to do so would be Incredibly immature... But don't say that I didn't warn you. |

Zantel 2005-03-01 . chapter 1 YAY!! I like it a lot! Down with Bush! |
dioxazinepurple 2005-02-06 . chapter 1 Awesome. Next, you can do a parody song-fic of One Day More called Four More Years. I'm sure you'd have us rolling in the aisles with that one ;-).
I wonder: if I were to mail a bag of Rold Gold pretzels to Bush as a "care package", would I be shipped off to Guantanamo bay and be denied my constitutional rights due to the suspicion that I am a terrorist-assassin? Hm. Perhaps.
That said: "I hate Bush, but when the night is over, he's still there, he really Didn't choke to death on a pretzel like I dreamed." HAHAHAHA! Great line. |
