Nice internal monologue on his thoughts. I was so addicted to this show during its first season and the reason was John Kelly. Stopped watching after he left and for some reason, I've started tuning in again this year. So reading your fic was nostalgic and it was very much in character. Good work.

I remember the NYPD Blue days when John Kelly ruled. I stopped watching it after he left (foolish man). Haven't watched CSI: Miami because I think his character is an egomaniac and melodramatic. But that has nothing to do with your story. I enjoyed reading it because I miss those John Kelly days. So it was a treat to read this. A suggestion: more attention to detail would really enhance the plot; what is he doing whilst he contemplates his actions? Where is he? That would deepen the story.
