I know this was written ages ago, but i just love it! I keep coming back and reading it again, and again.
I love the dynamic between Magnus and Bobby, you have the sarcastic and bland of their interactions down to a T.
But, I want to make a plea:
PLEASE OH PLEASE WRITE A FOLLOW UP, OR SEQUEL!
There are so many unresolved issues and I want to see these two interact again, as by the end of the story, they had formed a respect/comradere that is too awesome to just let lie.
What’s too perfect about this fic it that even though Bobby undergoes character development, it fits within the official Marvel method of handling Iceman. It always seems that every other character evolves faster than him, almost as if the writers say, “Why change Bobby?” When he does get character development, it hardly compares to what AU Bobbies have been doing forever. Also, they never let Bobby do it on his own and the few times he has taken the initiative he hits a glass ceiling. Only he has hit it so many times that it’s become smudged and it’s very obvious to the casual observer what is holding him down as the simple fool. I love this fic, not only for its great plot and excellent writing, but also because it’s a reminder of what has not changed.

This needs a sequel. For several reasons this wonderful story should be developed further. You've written a fantasic character piece for my fav male X-Man and you've raised, subtly, some very interesting questions. First there is the obvious psychic damage done. What if while looking through Bobby something was planted, or better yet and not so trite, something was unleashed? Second there are Magneto's very intriguing comments about the age of Xavier's recruits. I think there is a very valid point in that and I agree with Magneto that Xavier has not completely molded Bobby to anything. Bobby resists in my mind, passively, sometimes annyoningly to others but very, very effectivly. You've unearthed a very very good potential plot point for the sequel I would love to see you write. Third, videotaping the whole thing and broadcasting it LIVE back to the X-Men for them to check to see if Magneto did what he'd been acused of doing. That was a shock and sudden twist to read, and Bobby's constant watching of the tapes means that there is something very invading, very painful about the whole experience being recorded so perfectly, disected by other people. What a violation. An incredible shift in tension at the end that made me want to hate the X-Men with their so called "rescue." And as far as this whole "Bobby vollunteered" thing that was a brilliant stab on your part at Iceman's attempt to be useful to the X-Men, especially after the whole Emma Frost thing. I mean Hank getting first listen to the proposal? Can you say tailored for the "victim?" You had me not hating the X-men, but feeling a sense of uneasiness and disgust about them, especially Psylock. For me, no one since the "Thick as Theives" story arch as ever captured Bobby with such vivid dialogue and writing as you have. As for Magneto and you writing him for the first time, you have revitalized a very over used villian, making his characterfresh, unsterotypical, intelligent, possessing of his own brand of sarcasam and exsasperation for his "roommate." In the end I can only plead for you to contiune with this story or at least write more Bobby ones in general.
Rain Goddess 3/26/01 . chapter 6
I love your story. I totally approve! Bobby is the best, and there are not enough stories out there about him, and even less serious ones. I wrote one and submitted it to shifting-sands, but as of yet I've had no response. Well, just wanted to tell you I liked it, and let me know if you have others.

I agree with Fyre, this fic just screams "sequel me!" it is soooooo good, dang it, i think Bobby's now a contender for the place of "my favourite X-character" - hmm there's an idea, do you have any ideas for a fic with Iceman and Nightcrawler in it? Pretty please? Ah, well, even if you don't keep churning out the high-quality Bobbyfics, there just isn't enough around! :)
Wow that was really good, very interesting, nice job.

I've read this all and I loved it! It was a great Bobby piece and I'm always partial to those. Liked the dynamic between Magneto and Bobby, but you had me hating the X-Men even though it was supposed to be that way! ARG! And I was a little puzzled by the ending . . . I mean they all treated Bobby like he was going to break and they didn't seem worried that he was watching the tape of his whole experience. MUST HAVE SEQUEL Because I think Magneto also had more in the email for Bobby than the Professor is letting on, Magneto made a point about how Iceman is not "molded" into the perfect soldier for the dream, and Bobby is such a kewl character!
Please continue to write more with this storyline. I enjoy your style; you talent is wonderful. Thanks for sharing
This was incredibly well written. You conveyed a feeling of darkness and manic clausterphobia even during the rescue, where you'd expect to be able to breathe. Instead, I found myself holding the breath and just waiting for some shining light. And I'm still waiting, hoping for a sequel. Excellent work.
Oh My Gawd! I loved this, it was amazing! Our Bobby is just not used enough. What a balancing act you did with his true personality combined with an imposible situation and the x-men making a mistake with rescuing him so slowly. Take a bow, this is one of the 5 best stories I have ever read here.
