The thing that really clinched this story for me? You mentioned Duane Reade. I've only visited NYC, and even then for only a grand total of 3 days, but Duane Reade was everywhere and was necessary to existence. ^_^

I also liked how you dealt with "Benny tension," having him keep a safe distance from Mimi and suchlike. Realistic, nice, and fun to read.
