It's always hard to write a Ranger-death (or in this case, Ranger-dying), and the one time I did it, I don't think I gave it enough meaning. You did. It was a plausible reason, the reactions were satisfactory without being too long, and you always kept a spark hope going with along with the despair. Well done.
