My comp was playing the Faint's 'Ballad of a Paralysed Citizen' while I was reading this, and needless to say, it was vaguely creepy.

Yes! This was great! Tom's portrayal was spot on, and you did a wonderful job taking his character from Polly's point of view and writing him as himself.

And you're right. That last line is a bit shivers-inducing...

Seriously. Creepy. Interesting bit about the rosemary though that I was wondering if you meant it/knew about it? Yes rosemary gets put in funeral wreaths...because rosemary itself stands for remembrance. An interesting choice for Laurel, eh?

hm. your third F&H fic. i think that laurel would look really good in a wedding dress... but, i wouldn't say its creepy. its more of like, disturbing. especially where she was personified as a snake. because she's the antagonist, it's easy to see her as something like that. and it was a nice touch to mention that her bouquet included rosemary (which i didn't know was included in funeral wreaths...) laurel's last phrase to tom was just so...mocking. i could sense her triumph at his dispair! so much emotion! bravo! you've done it again. i'll never be able to look at a snake and not think that it's laurel (and i'm considering calling my stuffed snake laurel!)

Whoa that last bit was creepy... I can't really envision Laurel's wedding at all... but then again I can't really stop thinking that she's pudgy, which is totally ridiculous... Well nice work
