I thought, way back when, you had Chibi-Usa think to herself that Momoru didn't care for her in the future because she's all, "Mom and Dad rule the moon, and you, well, you have a nice apartment. And you're single" but is lying her ** off. What the heck? But I do enjoy the story and am said that it hasn't been updated in so long.

I've always despised character development by tearing people apart and putting them back together. Not only does it lack even a semblence of literary finesse, it generates a feeling of disgust (both at the fiction and, to some small extent, the person who perpetrated it) in what few shreds of empathy I expose to fiction and clashes violently with the tone of the source series used.

You really enjoy taking your readers on an emotional (or in my case, opinion) roller-coaster, don't you? I always hate to see death in Ranma and Sailor Moon fanfiction. One of the defining traits of the Ranma atmosphere is that, despite all odds, only Saffron dies and that's not permanent... and of course, the point that, in Sailor Moon, only baddies seem to die.

Ok, If you're going in the direction I think you are, then I know exactly how this entire thing can be fixed while retaining all of that sidetrack writing.

Put everything which takes place between the middle of chapter 44 and the end of chapter 78 as a different FFnet story entry (sort of a sidestory that's too important to be called one) and then give the relevant details in the post-revival prose so that readers can read all of the main story first if they want. That way, it doesn't feel like you're pulling a literary bait-and-switch (and you don't risk scaring away readers before chapter 78) and everyone's happy because they get the full story without feeling like you've betrayed them.

Heck, if it weren't for FFnet's terrible lack of support for fancy markup, I'd suggest doing the same with Ranma's little trip to the Silver Millennium in chapter 22 through 31 and then putting a hyperlink in the main story.

In fact, would you mind if I tried laying out the story that way once I get over this cold and catch up on my assigned work? I'd like your opinion on what I'm envisioning. (I'd e-mail you a zip file full of HTML, complete with an index dot html as a starting point)

I am enjoying this portion of the story when taken on it's own, but I thought I'd let you know that I just thought of the perfect term for what you and J.K. Rowling do: Literary bait-and-switch.
