I honestly must have read this a billion and a half times by now, but it just dawned on me that I never reviewed. Although I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't been said already...
This fic was more then just a one-shot, it was a whole, plotted-out *story* in one chapter. The characters were spot-on, the writing was wonderful, and Gariena was perfect for the role she played. You just love to hate her XD. Plus, you managed to show the reader her personality in such a short amount--relitivly speaking--of line space. Great characterization.
And the relationship between Roy and Riza! Perfect! You nailed Roy's cocky demeanor, and Riza's dry sarcasim was a unique little spin on her I loved. Just emphisizes the fact that she's a female with an actual backbone. *gasp*

Not necessarily. According to Japanese rank structure (I admit to doing my research with WWII-era info, but I doubt it's seen much change), the rank of Warrant Officer is one rank above Sergeant-Major, and two above Sergeant. I didn't know the Japanese structure at the time the story was written, but in the Canadian Armed Forces where I was a cadet, a W.O. outranks a Sergeant as well. I've never encountered any definitive, official information that indicates how the rank structure is arranged in FMA (Falman and Fury tend to be assigned about the same amount of menial duties), so of course I went with what was familiar to me. Thanks for pointing it out, though. :)
