Great analysis of Yugi and Atem's relationship. Yugi did indeed seem to have a gentling influence on Atem when you compare how he is in Duelist to how he is in the first YuGiOh series. Atem's presence allowed Yugi to grow a pair and stand up for himself a bit.

I do miss when Atem would punish his foes with penalty games though.
