*cries* that was cute at first, but then it got really depressing! *cries some more* (it was a great sad story though, very well written)

Wow, this is so great! I love how it just started as something normal with Cordy decorating (she was very much in character btw!) and then it became so sweet with the kiss underneath the mistletoe! And the ending was very sad...but it somehow matched the story perfectly. Great job!

Hey,
Late review, I know. I've only just checked my mail.

Anyway, for the most part I want to second what Christy Corr said.
That last paragraph is great - you get a sense of exactly how damned depressing it is in only a handful of words. Nice job.

The memory part is finely done - it has that vague remoteness of a memory, but you don't realize it until you come to the end. Positively subliminal (and sublime, really).

Fave parts:
Decorating on Christmas Eve was new to her, but Angel had no tradition. Angel needed a Christmassy tradition, something to try to boost his flagging faith in the human race.
- I don't know why, but this seems wonderfully sad. We see where Angel's coming from, and in the end, he's even farther down. It makes his moment of hapiness even brighter.

"Forget the chair. The chair is a chair. Or it was. I'm not mourning the chair. Let me clean that up." He strode toward the mess she was attempting to pick up.
- He's so caring, in that guy way. You can hear his tone, and his almost anxiousness.

"...You know, in the old country, we used to put this stuff up to ward away demons."
"Isn't that rowan?"
"Well, we were drunk." He trailed off, slipping up beside her. "We used it for other things, too."
"Typical Irish,"
- Lol! Sweet.

It was damned depressing. But that was his tradition.
- No kidding.

And the piece from the song is so fitting, but the meaning is twisted in this context - it's sad, in retrospect.

so: sad, but so very sweet.

Boo hoo. What a sad ending. I really liked it. We all wish that Cordy was there to share Christmas with Angel again. Nice little fic.

Aw. So cute, so sad. I *heart* it!

You know, the Christmas songs I do know, I know the whole thing. A few years of caroling can do that to a girl. Ugh, bad memories.

ANY-way. You know, Ash, I don't have the habit of reading fics out of my fandom -- and that's not even HP, that's L/J. You're one of the few exceptions... and, really, I've never read anything else in the Angel fandom.

But, you know, this is really nice. Really, really nice. It's a cute little sad Christmas Angel cookie, and I like it! XD

"It was damned depressing. But that was his tradition." Aw. Poor Angel. But sadness really is what Christmas is all about, no? I really loved this line, I don't know why. I liked it even more than the cutesy Cordy/Angel scene...

I guess the idea of Angel just sitting there and remembering is -- well, memories can often be much more pleasant than the events themselves. Because only after a long time can we actually see how happy or blissful one specific moment was, and we can treasure it for its true meaning... Poor Angel.

Jeez, I rambled quite a bit, didn't I? Well, what I meant to say was that I loved this fic, that you did a great job, that I hope that one day I can write a paragraph of angst as simply poignant as that last one.

And... merry Christmas. A bit too late, but merry Christmas anyway. Again, well done! XD

PS What about that HHr fic, eh?
