Yes, the characters are OOC but so what? The moment anyone other than the original author puts words to screen, or pen to paper, it's all OOC. Even then someone like Rumiko Takahashi or Yoshiyuki Sadamoto can write another story in the same universe and have their characters grow up. Are the grown up characters then OOC? Something for the Canon Cs forever crowd to think seriously about, yes?

I am seriously looking forward to the sequels you mentioned. Whether or not I can FIND them is another look again. ::laughs:: I can fall over what I'm looking for and never notice what tripped me as I get up. ::chuckles::

This is a VERY touching story. As you mentioned - the story of Ranma's recovery. And you have it done VERY well.

I have just 1 gripe. The story as posted on FF.NET is just horribly formatted. Yes, I understand that FF.NET is a pain in the rear to get working right at times, BUT, in this case, the story loses a LOT.

I had to go to www [dot] darknessrising [dot] com to read this in it's original HTML format. And it makes a difference !

Also, this story is amazing in another way - its a RanmaAkane pairing (my preference) with Ranma deciding to stay as female, but its not a lesbian relationship. There is a sex scene (chapter 4, I think) which comes really close, but I don't think it can count. Feels more like a one-night stand.

This was a truly superb piece of storytelling. All of the supposedly OOC elements are well justified and quite reasonable in context. I was a bit surprised that you ended it in a relatively abrupt manner, but I get your rationale for doing so. However, the fact that the Kodachi, Ukyou, and Nabiki/Ryouga stories haven't materialized, as that leaves a lot of dangling plot threads. But I can always hope, right? The only actual criticism I'd offer is that you seemed to be pretty hard on Akari for no obvious reason. All she manages to do is irritable everyone each time she speaks. Though it's such a minor quibble in an all-around moving and fascinating piece of work that it's hardly worth mentioning. Despite the daunting subject matter, I have to say that I really loved this story. Well done!

You really showed everyone the dark, painful path a rape victim has to deal with. I have read many ranma 1/2 out of character stories but this one is my absolute favorite.

Gah just wanted to say something that I forgot to mention in the other review I wrote...I LOVE how you had Akane realize she was an abusive spouse. I have thought along the same lines many times and it was nice to see that someone else thought the same.

That was a superb story. Beautifully written and executed. Only problem I had with it was Ukyo's characterization...I just can't see her being as brutal as you made her out to be.

Those people saying that Ranma was acting out of character I think don't understand the depths of the rape and how much it affected her character. I suppose you could argue that the entire STORY and premise is OOC since Ranma is a comedy and you put in a much more serious dilemma then any Takashi would think to put in and in such I suppose it is OOC. However, I thought if such a situation were to happen it was handled much like I think these characters would respond. Except for what I perceive to be Ukyo acting entirely too violently and Genma not being at least moderately interested in his grandchild and the joining of Akane and Ranma...

Also a brief mention...it would have been...interesting to have Happosai dealt with...I don't know exactly how it could have been done or how his character would have responded to this serious story you weaved however, I don't think the man regardless of his perversions is necessarily truly evil at heart. Would have been interesting to see his character grow and evolve.

It also saddens me that these additional stories that you were supposed to write never happened, but I'm sure there is a reason for that, and regardless this story holds strong.

In the end however, the story was beautifully written, superbly scripted, and just one of the best fanfiction I have ever viewed. It was quite a sad story in all but in the end they all survived. I wish you had at least briefly mentioned the other characters relationships at the end as I am very curious as to what occurred there, but as written this a near perfect work. Thank you very much for writing it and providing them. Thanks again.

I do not agree with the people who say ranma would never stay a girl because the ranma of your story is not canon.

No your ranma takes this to a different place and i think it's good... the real ranma whould have seen shampoo, kuno and anyone who stood in his way dead and buried as soon as he was no longer affected by the drugs.

But i like the OOC ranma you created and the way akane changes to compliment him.

I've...never encountered anything that affected me like this story did...aside from the memories it called up...

It was very...difficult...reading this, but very cathartic as well. I realized just how much certain past events are still affecting my life. Among other things. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Rape destroys the lives of the victims. Not just for a few days, or weeks, or months. The impact of it affects the entire rest of their life. Their self-image, how they interact with people, EVERYTHING. No part of a rape victim's life is unaffected.
