2009-11-18 . chapter 51
this really is so amazing. I've been with you for the past 5 years, ans what really impresses me most is that after all this time, you kept going. That is a real inspiration. I sometimes feel inspiration grabing me and then I write a little something, but as fast as it comes it leaves again. Sometimes it's only a matter of hours when I'm not thrilled anymore and then I stop writing. But you kept it up for 6 long years. Congratuilations, that is an awesome accomplishment!
And you kept true to your style, seriously, you should get payed for something this awesome!

The Unbroken series is just amazing. Siriusly. XP (I couldn't help adding that in)
I've been reading the stories, one after another. And I just couldn't stop once I started! The plot is really gripping, chilling and totally awesome! From Sirius's darker moments to the Marauder's friendship, I loved it all! Snape's parts were great as well, and I like how you added Grindelwald in. Grindelwald teaching about himself on the first lesson... LOL!
Your writing style is amazing. I still have lots to catch up on. All that suspense and emotion, I really felt it.
I like the sorta detached way you wrote out the epilogue. ^_^ Remus and Tonks, together despite everything.

Keep up the great work with all future stories!

I love this story. There's a little bit of everything enough to keep it interesting. You did a great job of keeping everyone in character, the plot was great. I could fawn for a while or i could just say that this is the best fan fiction i've read.

I love you. You finished. It was awesome and amazing. I do wish Sirius had kids. Who else will torment Remus?

Delighted to see that you've finished! I'm extra glad to read the end of this after the last few books of the series, in which the older generation was made more and more flawed to serve as moral tales for Harry rather than actual interesting characters. This is a really lovely story of friendship, and I think I like it much better than Ron wandering around trying to find Harry and Hermione in the tent. Excellent job. and cute epilogue.

This series was AMAZING! I am planning on reading the 'prologue' right away!! If Sirius figured out how to kill him through the dark mark sooner, things would have been so much easier!! Haha :)

few stories can hold my attention for several days, but your series sure did! i loved it! usually i have a lot more to say, a lot of gushing for such fantastic stories, but i have a feeling that you already know what a brilliant work this is. truly captivating, unlike any other story i have read on this or any other website.
thank you for writing.

Mm. Lots of lovely character (and you didn't retcon the whole Gellert/Dietfried thing, enough that it's confusing but kind of fun) and while I can see what would have created Severus' random, useless defection by reason of collapse and shutdown much better than can Narcissa, who lacks considerable information, and though I try, I'm just not sold. Sorry about the excessive focus on this perceived flaw. It's just too much of a punctured balloon.

Damn it. Second time through the 'Unbroken cycle' here, and I still can't see the way things are working out with Snape as plot-efficient. He doesn't even use the damn key himself the way Dumbledore and Rowena suggested he'd have to, as a true-Slytherin, and he doesn't Face Heel Turn /on/ Voldemort to the scattering of his strategy at the optimal moment, he just...opts out. It doesn't follow the trend of the story (where you've been giving him what seems about as much time and perhaps rather more attention than any of the three Marauders who aren't Sirius) and it's /wasteful./ Possibly the point is that Severus should have Picked His Side way back before he stabbed Remus and held his beloved Hogwarts against his false master, and since he made the wrong decision then he is Doomed to Suck, but writing him out of the climax for angst reasons after all the effort and soul-killing he went through to stay in that perfect position, giving it up without a last hurrah is just...stupid. Irritating.

So, I was wondering if you could find the time at some point to clue me in on why you did it that way? Apart from wanting to transfer all the focus to the Four Friends at the Heart of the Story for the climax period, which I guess is fairly important...I mean, Four-Together-Plus-One-Confused-Turncoat-Who-Crucios-His-Master-In-The-Back-At-The-Appropriate-Moment, or whatever useful act he might have performed by staying in position, does lack the prophetic weight of the four-together on its own; and there is value in their not /needing/ Snape. If I'd thought it adequately motivated the fact that it deprives Severus of a shot at a very satisfying Moment of Revelation and redemption and so on, inasmuch as defeating bad guys nastily can confer positive karma, it wouldn't have kept niggling at me the way it has. But it's clumsy as plot and a violent reversal of the character you originally built. And structure is awfully important in fiction, as you're clearly aware, and the broken look the structure gets in that area really gets to me. So do you have a minute to loop me in? I'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks,
Trisak

Wow, Truly masterful! What an epic story- I'm just glad I discovered it now, or else I think I would have died from the suspense of waiting for updates with all those cliffhangers!!

You have such a solid grasp of character development, a really lovely prose style, and a clearly fertile imagination... it is almost a pity this was written based on JKR's characters- I would totally buy it (and tell all my friends to as well) if it appeared on the stands.

Congrats on the colossal achievement of finishing it, and I look forward to reading more!!

I read all three stories in about four days, stopping only to eat and sleep. This is one of the most incredible pieces of fanfic I've ever read, and I've read a lot.

It's only after I've finished it all that I can even try to give you some feedback. Firstly, it read very smoothly. Despite the frequent scene shifts, I could easily keep track of the storylines. Secondly, it was professionally written. This did NOT read like a fanfic; it read like a best-selling novel. While there were some inconsistencies due to back-updating for compatibility with later books, they weren't obvious enough to break the flow of the stories. Thirdly, it was epic. Grand, sweeping drama that generated tension, grief, and joy. Fourthly, excellent character development, both of major and minor characters. Even Voldemort demonstrated some sympathetic characteristics, not to mention the torn loyalties of Snape. These people seemed real.

Thank you for these stories.

I spent 80 dollars to read this story. This story had been favorited on my old computer, and when I decided i wanted to start reading it again after 2 odd years, I bought a monitor just so I could access my old computer and read this fic. Splendid, extraordinary writing. I haven't gotten around to reading the final fic, but I am sure it will be great!

As a side note, what do you see the Trio pairings as? Meaning H/HR vs. R/HR, R/L, etc. etc.
