A 2007-05-30 . chapter 1 I just submitted a review to your older posting of this, but I wanted to add that I believe they are actively looking for a writer for Spider-Man 4. You don't have anything to lose by sending them your version of of Spider-Man 3 to show them what you can do and seeing if you can get involved with the cannon, on screen version of the next sequel, if that would interest you. I think the story and the fandom would benefit.
I know it is probably a long shot and they probably have a pool of established script writers they look to first, but you certainly exceeded the standards they set on this one. |
livethir 2007-05-09 . chapter 88This is a great story! It would have made an excellent SM3 movie. But I think you coud have been a lot nicer to the SM3 out. I thought it was good, and you shouldn't insult almost all of it, but it did have small problems that you could insult. First, the part where he was doing that weird walk and doing finger guns at random girls in the middle of a sidewalk. Second, Venom shoud be all like protecting the innocents and referring to himself as we. Also, Harry and MJ shoud not dance to some lame old country rock n roll. And, even though i'm not against this, but thought you and others should note, sandman was actually NOT uncle Bens murderer in the comics. Also, sandman did not have some child with cancer in the comics. But, i'm not sure if i'm against the kid with cancer. but, they should have put more venom in the movie. Now, i know you're thinking that i must not like the movie at all with all the problems I just listed. But these problems don't make SM3 a bad movie. Also, make a sequel to this story! I'm dying to know what happens next. Also, you were right about an SM4 int your SM3 review. I read in a news paper article that Sam Raimi and everyone else in the SM movie crew are considering making a SM4. Thought I would let you know. That's my review. |
DPark 2007-05-07 . chapter 1I read this story a long time ago, and I really enjoyed it (did I write a review? Not sure). But, in all honesty, there were some aspects that I just really didn't go for. Like MJ being in a movie: she's a Broadway actress at heart. I'm not sure if this was given good reason in the script, as it's been a while, so forgive me if I'm missing anything. Still, Harry's redemption and the setup for a sequel were some aspects I really enjoyed.
Spiderman 3 itself...well, I loved that as well. It has it's own share of problems, of course. A symbiote coming out of nowhere was pretty ridiculous. Still, some of its plot points that you criticized actually are redeemable, in my opinion anyway. For example, Harry getting amnesia actually seemed to serve a purpose. Harry re-experienced the friendship and romance he had lost with Peter and MJ, respectively, long ago. And when he again faced rejection by MJ, a heartbreaking experience I'm sure, it pushed him over the edge. Still, that friendship Harry got back briefly seemed to also pull Harry back to the side of good. That's my two cents on the matter, and I'd say more, but I'm not going to bog you down with it. |
ShadowSonic1 2007-05-07 . chapter 88Well, one thing to say about why the symbiote lets Peter take it off in the movie. The suit only let him take it off because it knew Peter would put it back on eventually, it wanted him to think all the changes he was going through were ultimately his own with no interference from the suit. It only started acting like a living creature and stuff once it realized Peter wanted to get rid of it.
As for including Venom, Harry and Sandman all together, it was because this was the end of the trilogy, they wanted to do it all if there weren't any more. Raimi and Maguire wanted Sandman, Harry needed closure, and Avi Arad wanted Venom.
Harry's amnesia, this happened in the comics too. He'd become the Goblin, forget and go back to normal, then regress.
The suit's origin, well having it be from Jameson's mission and stuff would've just made the movie even longer, the meteor shower thing was fast and it was a "The Blob" homage all in one.
Peter acting dark, the point of those scenes was for humor, Raimi wanted to show that Peter's inherent goodness kept him from becoming truly bad, and at his core he was still a dork, only now he was a dork acting the way he thought was cool. Pretty funny and in-character. |
 Excel 2007-05-05 . chapter 1 Looks good. I don't know why I haven't noticed this before. |
Aaronpoe 2007-05-04 . chapter 87This is impressive, mostly for the fact that you were able to do this story with only one villain. I had a VERY hard time making any one villain that compelling throughout the story; I definitely approve of the psychiatric touches that show exactly how off the deep end our two super-powered people are...
Alright, Eddie deserves this ** this time around... maybe not the parasite, but definitely the reaction from Spider-Man...
Harry's really freaking lost it... at least, until you give it back to him. Well, good for him. Although I don't think I would take this approach, I can't doubt it's effectiveness here.
Overall, this is an awesome rendition of the story, and even though I am not yet capable of comparing it to the new movie, I can compare it to my story, and say that the specific details you supplied for the Goblin are awesome.
Very very enjoyable... good job. |
