This was a very good story, you did very well.

I most certainly enjoyed this story, DoraMouse, and can safely say its one of the best DBZ fics I‘ve ever read! I recall reading it on your site as well (I frequent it quite often ;-), you had an excellent writer’s handbook up there for a while…). There’s so little known about Raditz, but you managed to make everything fall into place. Cat was an interesting addition as well, and an animal suiting to Raditz‘s personality: independent, cunning, and somewhat aloof. I’ve always imagined Nappa, Raditz, and Vegeta sticking together, but this makes more sense: after all, Raditz supposedly was in the army before the two of them. Raditz’s view on the world was certainly interesting, if not hilarious at times. Would’ve been hilarious to see Frieza and Cat duke it out… But it really is a pity this story hasn’t seen more reviews. Thank you for the wonderful read.

This is a beautiful story - I can't believe you only got four reviews so far. *grins* I guess that means I'll have to make mine extra long.

This is probably the most realistic portrayal of Radditz I've read to date. You kept him in character, but at the same time added a depth and poignancy that was heart-breaking. This was a man that was lost and confused, and almost totally isolated.

And yet he wasn't beyond redemption. The way you've written him, he almost WANTS to be saved. He likes having a friend in cat, he hopes to be missed when he leaves for earth, and he jumps at the chance that he might have a brother. It's almost painful how he keeps reaching out and is constantly disappointed (except for the cat - yay for the cat!)

But this isn't just a sob-story (although I did come perilously close to tears in Chapter 5). Radditz is not self-pitying in the slightest, and his view on the world is very funny at times. His baffled reaction to the tiny kitten that refuses to be afraid of him is both endearing and hilarious.

And the cat using Zarbon as a scratching post? Priceless! I almost wish they'd done as Nappa suggested and have it scratch Freeza.

Wow!

I liked your thoughts about Raditz's life and life in Frieza's army; the part about how the low-levels are put to sleep while in space was especially interesting. Everything you have said about Frieza's army in this chapter has made perfect sense.

I liked Cat. The first chapter where Raditz met him was cute and hilarious. Even though we know Raditz isn't a sensitive guy, I can see him having and respecting a pet like Cat; the animal just seems suited to him. (BTW: I loved the Mark Anthony the Bulldog and little Black Kitten cartoon too...I miss Looney Tunes...)

I was always sorry that Raditz had to die so early in the DBZ series; I just feel that so much more could have been done with him, had he lived. And I can see him wanting to raise Gohan, even though he did treat him badly in the canon.

"Maybe we should just take the cat." Nappa suggested in such a way that it was hard to determine whether he was kidding or not. "I'd love to see if it can give us an encore, on Freezia perhaps."

"If it could, I'd gladly give it the crown." Vegeta muttered.

Hehheh, that scene cracked me up!

Oh, and about the last chapter, Vegeta's reasons for not wanting to be the King instead of the Prince of the Saiyans made sense. I've always wondered about that myself, and you've had Vegeta make some good points about wanting to stay as Prince.

Well, what else can I say...very well-written, logical, and thought-provoking. More people should have read and reviewed, so I hope this helps. =)
