Timothyology 8/29/08 . chapter 1"Percy's mouth worked soundlessly. They? "Well, uh." Being out of the know was deadly in the Ministry, a very bad sign; admitting it, far worse."
Lol, what an incredibly Percy thing to say!
I absolutely love your writing! Great job. |
L'AmatricedeTrappes 7/24/05 . chapter 1Hehe, I found this endlessly amusing, and I giggled through a lot of it. This is only the second piece of yours that I've read, but I absolutely love your writing. There's something very refined about your characterization of Percy, to the point where every single phrase or gesture here suits him perfectly. Of course, it's even more entertaining because I can actually picture canon Percy getting himself into this situation. |
Halfpenny 1/24/05 . chapter 1Dammit, I love you. I ADORE the way you write Percy—I have for a long time. You just, you do him SO WELL. You have that perfect blend of ‘I’m a pompous ass” and “but I’m a LOVEABLE pompous ass” going; you make him professional and clumsy and an adult and painfully young and write him jaded in all the right ways. I suppose I’m speaking in reference to all your pieces here, not just this gem. _- You have the compassion, combined with the instincts of an experienced and talented writer, to make him a sympathetic character without COMPROMISING his character: you allow for faults, but also offer, through careful word selection and the natural emphasis given by even more cautious word order, an alternative take on his idiosyncrasies. Percy is a Weasley, but he is also (for better or for worse _-) just Percy, and you express this fact with no small amount of brilliance.
Another thing that strikes me is your keen grasp of subtlety. A less experienced author would have ‘taken advantage’ of his drunken state, or would have at least been clumsy with the transition, instead of allowing the idea of the situation itself to humiliate him. :D
“Percy toasted the imaginary assembly. Then took a long, deep sip.
The next morning Percy woke in his flat, feeling strange.”
This kind of … tact… is what makes this whole fic so hysterical. The enormity of the situation he has just undergone… ::laughs:: I repeat, you do this astonishingly well. It is always refreshing to come across authors that have a good grasp of the value of understatement.
Listen, do you have an LJ account? I would love to friend you… I’ve been trying to get up the courage to ask for a while, but see, I’ve only just started an LJ account, and it’s kind of embarrassing to ask to friend people when, you know. You have nothing to offer. _; I write Percy with brutal regularity, but I’ve never posted any of my HP work, and I know a… kindred spirit when I see one. ::sheepish look:: Consider it?
Thank you a million times for writing this, you’re awesome, and by the way your Bill is sexy too. ::wide eyed innocence:: |
