ShinkonoKokoro 2009-11-04 . chapter 6I've really enjoyed this story! I love how you write the characters. While I was looking for a more complete ending, I actually really like how you chose to end it. It's ambiguous enough to be both satisfying and open for continuation? Anyway, I liked the focus on Kagome with Shippo and Rin. That was really great. I loved their interactions and it definitely seemed very cannon to me. ^_^ So I just wanted to say great job with this and I enjoyed it very much! Read the whole thing in one sitting. ^_^ |
Persephoniii 2008-05-19 . chapter 6"Hmph, I'm an emotionally constipated bigot who has nothing better to do than look down on everyone else because of my own low self-esteem that probably has a lot to do with abandonment issues and the fact that I'll never be as cool as my dad, who disliked me so much that he gave me a sword that was supposed to make me less heartless and it did work for a little while but then I regressed to being a bastard all over again. Now, if we could get back to the matter at hand, I'll go on intimidating you, as per our agreement, so if you wouldn't mind obliging, please cower in terror...ah...ah...um...oh...ah, yes, you stupid human. Thankyousoverymuch. "
This was TOO cute! Absolutely adorable!
Initially I was hesitant about reading this, simply because the last dated update was in posted 2006, and I had a feeling that you probably had (have) no immediate plans to continue...atleast not in the near future. Still, I was curious. You'd already hooked me with 'A self Called Nowhere', so I was confident in your abilities to tell this Kagome/Sesshomaru story from a different angle.
I liked the childlike innocence of this fic. So much so that I wish canon would focus more on Shippou and Kagome's relationship. I've always been under the impression that Kagome is at her best when she's with Shippou. What I mean is, she can be herself. Inuyasha seems to bring out the worst in her. People see their arguments as passionate and proof of their love/attraction/etc, but STILL. She's constantly confused and sad when she's in his company, constantly questioning herself and her abilities, wondering what he's THINKING, more than she's truely happy. Shippou accepts her as she is, accepts everything she has to offer him.
And the introduction of Rin into their circle was just...brilliant. It's nice to see the three of them interact like this. I found myself looking forward to Rin's visits. The swim lesson was especially beautiful; they seemed like a little family. Rin and Shippou have alot in common, and I admit that I'd rather she find a friend in the little fox kit than with Kohaku, (whom I've never been able to warm to for some reason.) And I like the angle of the blooming relationship between she and Sesshomaru. You can clearly see that they both care for the well being of Rin, and I guess Sesshomaru (albeit grudgingly) can see the need for Rin to have contact with another female. And I admit that he's GOT to be atleast a BIT relieved that he's leaving Rin in better (and possibly more capable) company than with Jaken. LoL.
You've really thought the whole fic through I can tell. Not many people would have acknowledged the fact that women weren't generally taught how to read or write in that age. Also, too I liked how you pointed out that Kagome's modern Kanji would be differnet from the writings of the feudal era. I have to wonder what effect teaching her would have on the future, (if any).
I had a nice beautifully written review to give you, (much better than this one) but for some reason I got an error message when I tried to post it, and everything was lost. I hope you'll excuse me for how bland this one sounds, but I just wanted you to know how much I love your style
I hope one day you'll continue with this. |
