Excellent! You've really put a lot of thought into what this part of Gollum's story would look like. I'm sure this is very much like the way the river-people would have lived, and Halga is as believeable an original character as I've seen in a while. :)

I'm sure Sméagol would have been just like this, before he found the Ring! If only he could have gone on with that life... but then what about Merbliss and Frum?

I really appreciate the way Halga says in your story, "My Sméagol, you loved all living things. You would never take another's life."

Surely he wouldn't! It's the Ring that caused it, of course. Poor Halga couldn't know, but she certainly had enough hobbit-sense to guess very close to what happened: "The Sméagol I loved was gone; you had changed somehow, and something else had taken your place."

Good description of gollum.

Whoa, this was definitely different (in a good way)! Finally, a Smeagol fic. Awesome, and very believable; the characters behave exactly how you would expect them to. Even the style you write in is very Gollumy (and that's not a word, is it). Gotta admit, I never imagined Smeagol with a girlfriend ;). Amazing!

When I first looked at this I thought, oh no, another one... But whaddya know? This story is awsome! It's very well-writeen. I loved how Halga ajusted and married some one else instead. I love it! Keep up the good work! :D
