This is one of my favorite Firefly fics that I've ever read. Perfect little glimpses of every character, and I love the way you revealed their souls through their relationship to the ship--the tenth character. It shows a perfect understanding of the heart of the series. Absolutely wonderful.

Such a great study of everyone on the ship, and of the show itself really. I liked it quite a bit. :)

I'm so glad you did stray from your usual writing to do this story...it's beautiful in its' simplicity and defines each of the characters perfectly.

I alway thought that Serenity was more River's than Mal or Kaylee's. Just something about how River communicated with the ship as if River had found a part of herself that had been lost.

Wow, have you got Kaylee down! I loved this bit:
"But everything is backwards, because it's the mother in the womb, surrounded by the darling child."

And you really have the rhythm of Kaylee's dialog in this bit:
"Serenity is Kaylee's girl, her good girl, who’ll do anything she asks."

I love the imagery in this, and can totally see Kaylee working in the engine room:
"Even when there’s no money for parts, and the ones they have are groaning under the strain, Kaylee’s there with oil and nimble fingers, soothing and coaxing like a momma with a teething baby."

Well, why DON'T you do plotless character studies like this? Very well done. Interesting look into each of the characters, and your style is very easy to read.
