liketoread 2006-08-21 ch 5,	abuseJust FYI (as I continue to read this series for the Stargate Award nominations), I don't think this was too fluffy at all. Pretty funny, in fact, at least the part when Jacob goes ballistic and Selmak has to calm him down. And I love the UST you are creating between them... and the fact that, once a year, they allow themselves to let go a little bit, enabling them to get through the rest of the year. You are developing a really good story. I'm glad it's a series. Looking forward to reading more!

Emerald Green Queen 2006-01-16 ch 5,	abuseAnother brilliantly funny story! This one is going to stick in my mind forever!:) I liked the idea of this birthday being set at O'Malleys. (Well, they sure as hell wouldn't get in he next year after the zatarc incident!) And it's nice that Sam gets to see her dad for her birthday. Once again, you've used what was going on on the show at the time in the story, with trust still being restored between Jack and the rest of the team after the Laira debacle and Jack's undercover gig. Oh, and of course the 'Hell' incident with rescuing Jacob (I had to smile at Jack's jealousy of Martouf, BTW). Very funny line: 'After that whole ordeal, Carter had told them how remembering what (who, actually, Jack had politely refrained from pointing out) Jolinar had done to escape' LOL! Good thing he did, I think Sam would've flattened him! Another nice mention was of Sam's promotion, party because it sets the scene for her then being a Major, but also because I liked the line: 'Oh well. He'd have to save it for the next time she got promoted.' Very prophetic!;) I was highly amused at Sam, Janet and Cassie running late! Especially the betting that took place, and it happening exactly as Jack foretold! Oh, and I loved when Teal'c couldn't shut his mouth about the er... effects of alcohol on the team!:) '"That explains all those strange phone calls I got," General Hammond put in.' Oh, that was good!:) I liked the darts game, and was amused that Teal'c had already been banned! I loved how Jack lost at the very sight of Sam walking in! When she did walk in, I thought Jack would sing to her, and started laughing harder! But Jack O'Neill, despite being a smartass, knows when to draw the line (especially when one angry Jacob Carter is in the room!) but still, his singing to Daniel was a scream, and I'm glad you used that as a means of restoring the relationship of the two men. It was so sunny though, making an idiot of himself, hitting a high note, and then Jacob asking when his last psych evaluation was! I smiled about the apparent old rivalry between Jacob and Hammond over pool.:) And the return of the birthdays hats.:) BTW, considering the way Sam kicks ** at pool, I was not surprised that Jacob himself won.:) Hmm... drunk Daniel, again!:) I loved how his stories only made Jacob even more suspicious! Aw, no mention was made of the theme of the birthday cakes this time. Still, chocolate always work (hey, it's what I always request myself!) Sam and Jack in the ladies... sigh... what a scene! Jack apologisng in words and with his kissing! Then Sam telling him he'd done a lot to be proud of, and on a technicality, kissing him back.:) And then Cassie walking in. That has to go down as one of the all-time funniest moments! Good thing she didn't blow the cover, though it does beg the question... would've she really had her own cell phone at that point? I mean, this was some years back, before they were as common. Anyway, her story to Janet worked.:) And I loved the 'story' she told her mother. But they aren't going to live this one down! General Hammond shook his hand and said, "Make out okay?" "What!" Jack coughed and spluttered. Yeah, he was smooth. LOL! That was positively evil!;) Cross that, it's Cassandra who is evil!:) Making Sam sit on Jack's lap! But hey, who can blame her for doing that given what she saw!?:) And them all cuddled up. Ooh! "Can't handle a little innocent teasing? It's not as if you have something to hide." Jack and Sam cuddled, almost to the point of again kissing... then they realise they've stopped and... "Is that… your father?" he gritted out, nodding his head slightly in the direction of the car next to him, where he was positive he had just seen Jacob Carter's eyes flashing at him from the passenger seat. OMG! ROFL! Now this is the greatest, funniest, and most memorable moment ever! I couldn't stop laughing! "Colonel O'Neill, my office nine o'clock tomorrow morning!" and "Your father is a little… angry right now. I will calm him down. He will want to speak to you tomorrow. I suggest Colonel O'Neill remain far, far away until we have left your planet." only make me laugh harder!;D This story has to be the best one yet, it was TERRIFIC!:)

Loved this part of the b-day traditions, thought it was really well written and i loved the last chap - i'm really glad that you decided to post it - and i totally love cassie too and the idea of having jacob see them in the car, lol! Can't wait to read BT 4! :)

I love the idea that once a year Sam and Jack can be together like that, and get embarrassed and still be happy and have everything go normal in the end. One night a year to do the things you'd never do, it's the fairy tale. And it's funny too! I loved the ladies room :)
