Just a thought, if you titled the chapters, the Beach, the Breach, the Bridge and the Bulge and so on, it would be funny.

No problem Caleb. I thought it was some unknown officer who died and thus the Germans got the maps, either way, I might be horribly wrong.

thanks for correcting me about market garden hamtaro23 also the germans got the taticel atvantge when that allied col died while leding a failed attack on arnhem. jerries got his maps (a whole map about market garden attack etc.) and conterattack drove tommy (nickname for the brits during ww2) all the way back from arhem. and nerly drove the 101 and 82 to destrucsion. also allied intelligence was horrably inaccurate becuz of the panzers. also we thought we would easaly capture arhem that we didnt use the air forse and that left the luffdaffa to bomb the crap outa us (stupid monty, thought you could win the war by chirstmas. thanks to you we spent our chirstmas getting our asses kicked in the battle of the bulge!) monty just waset the type of guy for combat like this. ps. dutchguy if you could, write about the siege of foy, it was the begining of the allied conter attack after patton saved the 101 in bagstone. the 101 and 11th armord division attacked it. split the bulge into those two okay?

Okay this one is for Caleb:

The main reason why the Allies didn't have aire support was because the whole communications system went FUBAR. At least for the British it did. The radios didn't work AT ALL. Uqruhart, the commander of the whole thing went "missing" trying to contact Lathbury because commnucations was down. Frost couldn't get help up at the bridgehead because they couldn't contact him at all.

Also, German resistance was stronger than Allied intelligence said was. The Allies were over confident and some divisions and units from the German side were there by accident. Like the panzers by Arnhem, they were there because it was a calm area. Also the retreating 15th army just happened to be there.

As for the British tanks, that was the Garden part of Market Garden. The tanks were Monty's, that's the reason for this operation. "A single fullblooded thrust," in the words of the field marshal. The tanks weren't relieving more like getting stuck because the a few bridges that was critical got blown.

Well, in general, blame Monty for this whole mess.

Good story, I appluad you. Cmon, you must be REALLY into WWII to remember or even know of Market Garden. Everyone knows D-Day, Anzio and Stalingrad and Midway and Iwo Jima but of all the things, not many people remember this major screw up, Market Garden.

Recently doing some reading on Market Garden and if you are doing this off the gameplay of MOH, then nevermind. But just pointing out some stuff because I was a bit confused.

By "The Bridge", did you mean the Arnhem bridge? Well, the Arnhem bridge was the British part of the operation. Colonel John Frost's battalion was to capture the bridge which ended in a bloody mess. Also, if you mean the bridge at Son, which was part of the 101st's objective along with other things, that one was blown. The other crossing, if I am correct was at Best. I'm not up to that part in my reading but that one was a mess as well.

Also, if you are talking about the 101st's first lift, they really didn't meet any resistance at all. Of the 82nd and British, the 101st got a textbook perfect jump, barely any flak.

And one more thing, "A Bridge Too Far" the name of your chapter is also a book, which I am reading by Cornelius Ryan and is a very detailed look at Market Garden. It's really good, suggest you read it.

Well that was just me, being some kind of WWII nut. Good story, waiting for an update on the Bulge which is, in my opinion is the best part of the war.

also the only reason the 101 and 82nd survived was becase of a britsh tank group tring to releve and a other thing why we lost was we did not use our air support to soften up. if the allies sturk southern germany that would save thousands of lives and could save east berlin and cechislovkia for demoracy during the cold war

market garden was more than just arhem, 3 city with importent bridges were to be takin. one city for the 101 ( i forget the name) a city for the 82 called njimed or something and for the britsh 1st and the polish airbore bridge along with them, arhem. arhem was a bloody waste, only 30 percent of allied force attaking it made it back and the two american division fought out numberd, out gun and low on supplies. the reason was that the bridge was defead by two ss pazer divions. not lightly garded german soliders
