abuseLovely! Wonderful job writing River becoming sane again and Jayne's awkwardness at the end.

abuseI really am enjoying this series! One thing though, is you bring in a lot of contemporary things, and Firefly is set in the future. I'm not sure how many years, but I'm not sure they would remember louisa may alcott and things like that. But maybe they would! This isn't a flame by any means, just something I noticed. I will read on with the series and hope you complete it.

abuseI'm adding this one to fav. stories, too. So good, and the two of them are both very in character. I like how you write River. So far, I've only ever seen one other writer do the J/R relationship any good credit. Bravo for being one of two out of 20 pages of Ff fics.

abuseWow, a beautiful description of River's insanity.
At first I found it a little bit strange, I didn’t think River would think that way about Simon and the captain. But then I remembered that when you are "mad" you say (in this case think) things you don't actually mean.
I found it very interesting how one minute River thinks no one can control her ("Simon can't control her, no one can control her and you fear her, don't you, deep inside?") and the next minute Jayne has her completely trapped (the animal she turned into). I think you described it very beautifully, her transformation (return to sanity, if you will) in his arms ("The fur melts, fangs and claws drop, her hair isn't too long, it's just long enough. Human. Quiet. Her head doesn't buzz."). I think the best (and the most romantic) part in the story was the moment when you showed us that River isn't the only one who is changing in this "relationship". Jayne is also changing ("A pause and she realizes - it's not just her breath that's hard, her heartbeat. It's the bear's. They don't breathe the same, his chest rising a second or two before hers, his heart hammering against her back. She doesn't reach, doesn't want to know what he's thinking the way he hates for her to reach. She just closes her eyes and slumps against him, even before the needle pricks her. His arms close around her, holding her up, letting her lean. Not letting her fall."). I hope I got it right. Keep up the good work :)
